Couldn’t sleep due to a snoring problem ( not mine 
) and was trawling MHF at 4 am as you do.
I got involved with a thread that was going nowhere about immigrants at Calais, starting to go down the ‘young, foreign, dog stealing immigrants’ path . Yuk.
Made a concious decision to pack that up and actually learn something instead. Electrics has always been like a massive mystery to me. So, I picked up on a ‘how to change your leisure batteries’
thread. ( if I knew how to reference this I would , I’ll try in a minute)
The upshot was..
In just 30 minutes I’d learnt so much from really knowledgable funsters that I’m now treating it like a proper study exercise, and am determined to carry on learning rather than just ignoring it, and even doing some minor electrical bits myself . ( no bottle to try this over the last 60 years).
I’m stopping reading those threads that get all popcornish and instead get involved more technically,( but also very happy to mix it up with the odd thread about snoring and how not to strangle the offender)
Its not the first time that MHF has saved my bacon
