Hi folks

ive got a leak under the shower tray in our Chuasson Best of 04 Motorhome. I’ve had the tray itself re-sealed by a mobile Motorhome repair guy, but it appears the leak is now after pouring water down the plug holes

i can’t see any way of looking under the tray

Has anyone used a dealer to repair such a problem and how much did it cost ?

Do they have to take the whole shower unit , walls and all out to look under the tray !!!

Any help appreciated

thanks

Is it possible to look under the van ,to see where the hoses go ?? the leak could be from the plug hole/outlet.This should unscrew, which may enable you to reseal it.Or a last ditch attempt ,if you can remove the tray & get it to a boat yard repair/fibreglass specialist ??

My partner has just paid £425 to have his repaired by speedcoat. Looks like a pretty good job.

Hi. There is nothing to see under the van. There are 2 plug holes and water leaks when pouring water down them both. I have had the tray treated with speedcoat

It sounds like it's a drain pipe that's come adrift. Can you see a drain pipe at all under the cupboards?

Hi. I suspect you are correct. Unfortunately there doesn’t seem to be any inspection point where I can see under the tray. Looks like the whole shower has to come out in order to take the tray out !!! Really frustrating

How high from the normal van interior floor is the level of the shower tray? The shower tray would have to be about 50mm higher than the interior floor to get the pipework under it, normally the shower tray is flat on the floor and the waste pipe goes straight through the van floor.
If there is a space under the shower tray you might be able to gain access by removing the parts that make the wall or threshold of the shower room.

Just an idea, my van has a one piece floor for shower and toilet, by removing the toilet I was able to reach into the cavity under the floor. The toilet was only held in by 6 screws under the cassette and some silicon.

If yours is like this one

The position of the cassette door would suggest you have a double floor, hence no pipework underneath. There should be access between the floors, any hatches under the carpet? Or from the garage which has a lower floor?

Not nessassarily. It be a joint between the sink drain and the shower drain.
My one came apart and had to drag the whole lot out to reglue an tee piece.
Luckily I could cut the drain before the shower and make it another jiont where I could reach it.

Thanks for all your suggestions folks. I suspect this job is beyond my own diy capabilities

I will contact a couple of dealers and see if I can get a quote from them.

Why don’t the manufacturers build in simple ways for access to areas for ongoing maintenance !!

Exactly like this. I’ll take a look in the garage.

Is your address Rothley in Morpeth?
There's an excellent couple of lads who do all my servicing and repairs (not mechanical) in Seaton Delaval. Northern Caravan Specialists at Double Row, Seaton Delaval, Whitley Bay NE25 0PP. They've done excellent work for me and Ian seems to be particularly adept at "awkward" jobs. They don't charge the earth, certainly way less than a dealer, and will give you an honest opinion. Worth a drive down for you.

Can you see any pipe work under the shower under the van, Probably black pipe around 40mm diameter under the van, if you than that will be the waste pipes they ma6 have come adrift from each other or the grey water tank.

You probably need to get the van on axle stands.
regarding Dealer repairs, most will only deal with vehicles they have sol because they cannot get enough experienced staff in their workshops.

Try www.approvedworkshops.co.uk they are all approved by the MCC

goid luck

On our Flash 10 the shower tray is set into a raised potion of floor which also has the toilet and basin cupboard on it.

The drain for the shower is nearest to the door of the shower / toilet area. The floor into the main part of the MH is obviously lower than the toilet / shower area. Just into the main part of the MH beside, on ours, the kitchen units, is a piece of wood (about 6" x 9") finished in the same style as the rest of the walls but screwed onto the wall at floor level. I took me a while to realise that if you found the screws under the screw head covers and unscrewed them, then the piece of wood came off and I could easily reach under the shower tray and unclip the trap and check the hoses if I wanted to.

Maybe you have a similar wood cover ? If you need to I can photo it tomorrow, but our van is different model to yours.

That would be very useful if you could send a photo. There is a piece of wood like you mention in my van but I can’t see any screws holding it in ?

I’ve tried removing this screw but it didn’t free up the centre panel and there are no screw holes for the centre panel

Have a feel along the surface of the centre panel, you might find some self-adhesive covers which go over screws, those are cunningly well disguised. I'd suspect that you could take off that lower panel to expose the under shower tray.

Can you take a photo of the whole panel and the other end. Was there a screw in that plastic fitting going in at an angle from left to right, ie into the back of the little panel?

At first I thought the oblong piece of wood was a kick panel, but after finding the screwheads I took it off and a whole new world was revealed;

There are no screws going horizontally into the middle panel

Is there any sort of thin gap between the plastic shower tray and that piece of wood. Maybe it is held on with a glue which you might be able to split by running a thin blade down the join ?
