hi my remote control has died. My pace digital receiver only has 4 buttons on the front.
On/off. Back up. Channels up and down.
Can i connect any new sky remote to it and if so how?
I have a spare version 9 remote if that’s compatible.

I'm guessing you need the blue one - it may be easier to get a new one from ebay

Firstly, you need the pairing code to pair the new/replacement remote to the pace box.

Google may help finding the code or if you still have the instructions for the replacement remote it may be there.
It will be a numeric code, usually 4 or 5 numbers and there is a sequence to enter it using the remotes keypad.

You will never guess the code... There are millions of number combinations

Is that unique to Sky remotes?

It always used to be by numeric code specified by brand and model.

To use any Sky remote to control basic TV functions, the codes you input are all brand and model specific.
And some codes for older Sky remotes are three digit, and for newer remotes 4 digits.

To use a Sky remote to control another make of Sky box, the process is the same and the numbers are the same, and is not specific to make and model of Sky box, just sky box type (ie Digibox, Sky+, Sky HD or Sky+HD)

So if you don't have the code you're still stuffed.
I'm assuming the sequence in your link is just to enable coding. You still need to enter the numeric code.

To add to my problems the tv is a Cello. Ive found afew codes but cant get it to work yet. However satandpcguy thanks for the info. I will take a look now.

I posted two links, so which are you referring to?

The first link shows you exactly how to programme the remote to control a TV, and also has a search feature to enable you to find the correct code for your make and model of TV, if supported. (all of this, including a "code finder" was also on the boxes themselves, but has been removed) And you are not really "still stuffed" as you can simply use the TV remote.

The second link shows you how to programme your Sky+HD remote to operate other Sky boxes. The codes are 0,1 or 2, depending what type of sky box you want to control. Nothing more is needed

See lots of the older (left on your pic) remotes at car boots and charity shops. They don't need any special code or pairing procedure to control your Pace 1000 mini sky box....I've done it.

Thanks for info satandpcguy. My remote is now operating the sky box. Have to go to work now but i will have a go at finding the tv code again later. Ive tried a load of codes but still not having any luck......but i wont let it beat me. Thanks again.
I have another question when ive sorted this out but dont wont to stray off topic.

I found this today on the Cello website so looks like I’ll have to just put up with using two remotes. Oh well.
