We have just sold our 2000 Autotrail Mohican after 6 great years of touring at home and abroad. We are now set on purchasing a Pilote A class, G7 series ( if that’s the right term ), around 2010.
We are confused with the numbering and also the terms, Adventura, Reference, Explorateur, etc.
We are looking for 2 fixed rear single beds, 4 belted seats, pull down overcab bed.
Can anyone point us in the right direction as to models to look for and are the names to do with types of finish.
Grateful for any advice. Thanks.

The way it works as far as I know - around 2010 the convention is G refers to Galaxy which is an A Class.
The numbers refer to the length and the chassis its on. So we have a G741 which is 7.45m long (hence 74) and is on the ALKO AMC Chassis (which is represented by 1). So a 740,742 and 743 are on different chassis but I am not sure which they refer to.
The Layout is designated by the letters which come after the number. (Sadly these letters are very rarely referred to in adverts so you need to see the pics to know the layout.) Ours is twin beds with a washroom across the back and is an LJE. I am not sure about the difference in build quality between the Adventura, Reference, Explorateur ranges but our Explorateur is one of the best put together we have had. So if you are looking for twin beds with rear washroom 4 belted seats and a drop down bed in the cab then a Pilote Explorateur G741LJE would fit the bill. (Its on the 4250kg chassis so needs C1 licence)

i seem to recall one of the 'suffixes' might have meant 'tag axle' and another being on a Merc rather than a Fiat....but 'twas in the dim and distant......
as above, the Pilote catalog wasnt the easiest to get one's mind around..
