I have lost six gear. Otherwise performing perfectly.

Is there a gearbox dipstick?

Anyone had similar and have a solution??

Cheers

No idea what it could be but to help others have you lost 6th in both auto and manual mode?

Yeah. It’s gone in all modes, manual, auto and E mode.

I’ve tried giving it beans as well but alas still no 6th. We have turned off/on, no change.

And everything else seems fine. No strange sounds or jerkiness, perfectly normal.

Cheers.

No gearbox dip stick it's not a normal auto with torque converter that needs automatic transmission fluid. Sounds expensive, what year is it? You don't have the hill button pressed do you?

There is a reservoir over on the right low down near the air cleaner housing. Check out YouTube vids it’s on there.
Good luck 🤞

Plug into Multieciuscan and clear any transmission codes and hopefully it will be fine.

sorry for the slow reply. We’re heading home tomorrow and I will give a fuller explanation then.

We’ve been to a Fiat Professional in Eire and have some codes. Part not readily available here.

Will have Fiat Glasgow order up part and fit when it’s here.

It’s a right shame.

I have the paperwork and I am at home now - so much easier on a PC! For me anyway.

Right, the error codes:

P2915-72 Fault on gearbox subsystem (Engage failed) - actuator stuck open
P2919-64 Transmission Control Unit (CSC Fault) - Signal plausibility failure

Doesn't sound expensive does it?! Everything seems to be multiples of £500 with the motorhome. :(

Have the codes been cleared and then reappeared? If not this is what you need to have done first.

Thanks IRHP the fluids were checked in Ireland and normal.

dunnah01 This is something I can not do but I hope it is that simple.

I appreciate that chaser but it is something I am not comfortable doing. The van is booked in for next month, so I'll leave it until then.

Thanks again everyone.

You can't hurt anything, it will just come up with a fault or not, if it comes up with a fault code then asks do you want to remove the code, if you do it will or won't but no harm done either road.

My understanding is, as it's just a robot doing the gear stick for you, it's a manual box underneath. So there's a servo actuator that gives you the equivalent of left and right on the box. And as you can get you 5th, that's not an issue. And another actuator to slot it forwards and back into the odd and even gears. And as you're getting 2nd and 4th, that actuator is working fine too.

Which implies that it's a mechanical issue preventing 6th gear from sliding in. It could just need some adjustments on the linkage... or it could be more 'metal shavings' type expensive. 😬

Just checked my comfortmatic clutch fluid reservoir and it’s approx 15mm from top.
I have never checked it as there is no warning label and wasn’t aware it was there and assume that the dealer that services it annually does check and top up if necessary.
It’s a tiny reservoir.
