Clevedon

The changes on the seafront in clevedon are a disaster for the town, forced on them by some bright spark in the county council, the new parking arangements dont work, they are dangerous becouse the cars have to open their doors into the cycle lane, they look terrible, on top of that they have destroyed a victorian seafront, that until the changes brought in money as it was regularly used fir filming in period dramas. The sooner it is restored to how it was the better.

We live six miles from Clevedon and totally agree with that description - the new scheme is indeed a tragic disaster IMHO. And yes, I was nearly taken out by a cyclist there - as it happens, the only one I've seen on the cycle path. Feel desperately sorry for the sea-front businesses that obviously pay a premium for their location and now customers struggle to get to them.

The new design of the road layout, parking, cycle path and pedestrian routes begs some pretty big questions about how anybody thought this vanity project would be an improvement. The roads generally around here are in a shocking state of repair - as I suspect in much of the country - but there's no money to fix them. North Somerset Council glibly say they won funding from central Government in the form of a grant to promote so called active travel. The implication being it's not their money - and indeed no, it's ours!! 😢

The irony of this story is that before the alterations there was no way anything bigger than a small VW camper could have parked there.

Used to live in Clevedon for 17 years before and after the pier renovation. Can’t recall a single problem with Motorhome parking in that time. Sounds like the Council have ‘fixed’ a problem that didn’t exist! The Golf Centre CL is the best place to stay if you don’t want to upset anybody.
