I'm a newbie
Does anyone know of a campsite with a late arrival policy?
Due to Brittany Ferries changing the time of our crossing will not be arriving in port until 7.15pm.
The campsites I have looked at reception closed at 7pm.
Many thanks

At that time of night I'd consider staying at the aire in Cherbourg and an early start next day........it can get busy though so good to have a plan B.
Check if the campsite has an overflow late arrival area

Thanks guys, I think the Aire will be full by the time we get off.
Will try campercontact as one site wanted 37 euros for 1 night including a booking fee of 9 euros :(

I would think that if you pick one of the Aires a few miles in Cherbourg you will find space. Also don't forget that in France it IS legal to sleep in your van when parked up unless a sign says otherwise. So you could always wing it and if all else fails just find a nice place to pull over for the night........ it is only one night (y)

If I were you, I'd speak to Brittany Ferries and see what they suggest.

In the past, we've had a free first night's camping as part of the BF ticket we bought. Admittedly, a few years ago, and to Roscoff, rather than Cherbourg. But that was a very late arrival - dark when we arrived with our caravan a few minutes from the port.

I'd hope they can help, especially as they changed your schedule.

I spotted a number of places along the main road D901 heading east from cherbourg that I might use for a stopover. Should still be light when you arrive so might be worth having a look see.

Well that’s given me some food for thought.
I have now got a few options lined up with aires etc so shouldn’t be too much of a problem.
Thanks all for the input.

@Manic top of my list :)
