First time lighting the fridge on gas this year, took a couple attempts as usual but when the piezo stopped I wasn't 100% sure that it had actually lit.

Popped off the external cover but you can't see much, but you can get your phone in there and grab a picture 👍

Yup, that's lit 👌

All the vans I've had they have an inspection window inside the fridge where you can see the burner

Old style fridge have an inspection/view port hole. You have to align the stars and sun bit like Indiana Jones. Anyway once you remove the contents and maybe a shelf you may be able to see the blue flame. Much easier in the dark. Newer ones which self ignite will keep clicking maybe an advancement but no inspection hole. Best check is as said heat from the top vent.

It's been a long, long time since since I've had, never mind seen a fridge with the inspection port, and as the side of the van had been sitting in the sunshine all morning, it was difficult to feel the extra heat just after lighting - I think I'd prefer to actually see a flame, or not, rather than checking for heat anyway.

If you can reach the flue you should feel it getting warm.
