Where do I find the stamped VIN on a Pilote A class? They only have a door on the passenger side, being a continental made van. It would normally be in the RHD drivers door opening wouldn't it?

Try under the bonnet on the rail over the radiator😊

No necessarily we have one on the Hymer but on our Autotrails they didn’t only on the cross rail😊

Right. I'll have to have a better look when I see it next. I'm assuming the RAC engineer would have seen it if it was on the bonnet cross rail..... :giggle:

There is sometimes a vin at the bottom of the windscreen looking from outside🤔 I may be talking crossed purposes here as I’m assuming you have the Vin on your weight plates?😊

Yeah, checked the windscreen. Nothing.

I would think it has to be on a part that was original to the vehicle chassis as supplied

It will definitely be stamped on your Fiat weight plate👍

Thanks, but I've probably not explained myself properly. I know what the VIN is. I can see it on both the Fiat and Pilote plates under the bonnet. My understanding is that on almost every vehicle there should be a stamped version embossed into a chassis part. This can be used to confirm the VIN shown on the weight plates. This is hard to fake whereas weight plates can be changed.

Where is VIN

1. The VIN on permanent element is located on the right side reinforcement near the seat of the right shock absorber

Thanks. I did find that somewhere, but was clueless as to what it meant. Does it mean top or bottom of shock absorber? Is the top under the bonnet? Where is the bottom? Somewhere under the van?

As The Freeminer post, look at the front face panel of the gas locker and there is a small clear perspex window that lets you see the punched VIN number on the Fiat camper chassis.

You may need to remove the gas bottles to get a clear view.

Could you explain a bit more please. Do you mean inside the gas locker?
My gas locker is to the right, lower of the driver seat (rh drive). When you open the gas locker, in the front wall behind the wheel arch is a perspex panel to view something through, I thought it was the chassis plate, but not positive. I tried to take a photo this morning without taking the bottles out without success.
Hope this is not too confusing...
