PPProtect?

Is that who did it for you?

Paintseal Direct did mine in March 2023 and only charged £899. They now have a specific ‘Morelo’ price on their list of £1499 :cautious:- so maybe they were taking longer than £899 allows for! Any other 9m MH is still £999

I was a bit sceptical and thought the claims were marketing hype, but can honestly now say I will never have a new vehicle again without it. The amount of time saved cleaning is so, so worth the cost. Saves me probably 3 hours on every wash, and the MH looks better between washes. Link below and I can highly recommend.

I too have a moho that was done 8 yrs ago by Paintseal, very impressed by the way it’s held up, I really ought to get it redone next year (yes by paintseal) after a few other mods👍

I did consider paintseal, but plumped for pp protect, probably nothing to choose between them, time will tell. Had my car done a couple of years back, which cost £650, so didn't think the price was unreasonable.

The finished job certainly looks good. Will be almost a shame to take it out on the winter roads and get it dirty now!!

You did well, I had to pay £1499.00, but as you describe it really delivers.

Can someone please tell me why I should or even shouldn't have ceramic coating..

Thanks

Positive - Helps protect the paint work, easier to clean, and the all important sanction from my wife is that it "feels slippy"::bigsmile:

Negative- Cost

Looking good, had our new van done back in April by Paintseal Direct. So easy to keep the van clean 👌

Yes but the warranty on the work is not as long than on a new van
so what sort of timescale?

My van is 4 years old, woul it not be worth doing?

What condition is the paint in? They apply it over any imperfections already there so paint needs to be in decent condition. You could email Paintseal Direct as they can advise better

I renewed my insurance with Comfort yesterday, a trawl of the markets didn't bring up a price even vaguely competitive with them despite the 15% price hike. However, a question that cropped up along with any vinyl wrap was, " has the van been ceramic coated"? So a DIY job may be a plausible alternative.
Mike.

It's not hard just time consuming needs a lot of preparation to do a good job
Agreed. Like all finishes, the more time that goes in to the prep, the better the end result will be.

So looping back to the general question about coating a second hand van, I think it is totally worthwhile, but only if you are prepared to do, or pay somebody to do a bloody good clean first.

I think Paintseal Direct offer a used vehicle cleaning and preparation service but I have no idea how much they charge for it. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was far off as much as the ceramic coating itself. A thorough deep clean of an A Class motorhome is a full days job in my experience.

My van is 2.5 y old , but did have a super guard paint seal treatment on it from new, so the paint finish was good, but even on new vans they require machine polish first, and this is where the bulk of the cost is, apparently the coating is the easiest bit. Note he had 4 guys working on it for most of the day.

Never been asked that question for this van had quotes from Comfort, LV & NFU.

It's the first time I've been asked as well so perhaps it's a new thing.I went round the same circle NFU £1090, And no recovery due to 4090kg. L.V. won't quote direct now, well least ways not me, again possibly due to the weight. AIB, as soon as I mentioned my existing cover with Comfort they threw the towel in admitting not being able to get even close to comfort and they weren',t being + £200. I wanted an additional 2k miles [ 10,000] but it was a sizeable uplift for that, so next year may be less trips away in the anyway. We used 7600of our 8k mileage cover this year.
From reading the policy though, it only becomes an issue in the event of being involved in an accident, when if you are they reduce your payout on a pro-rata basis of so much £ per 100 miles for the over use.
Mike.
