been to look at another motorhome today and found that the water heater is shot ,is it possible to get another newer water /space heater that wil go back through the same flue hole on the back of this motorhome there are lots off like pimples which have been covered with some sort of tape does anyone know why these pimples appear , I assume the back panel is some sort of alloy it is a k regd swift capri any help appreciated

A quick Google revealed this:

Never forget Google is your friend  .

That's assuming it's a Carver Cascade. You didn't say.

Carver Cascades have not been made for a number of years, there used to be a Chinese replacement, called the Henry but these are also no longer made. The replacement that a number of suppliers recommend is the Propex Malaga. It can be fitted as a replacement for a Carver but I believe it is a fair bit wider and you will also need an adapter plate for the flue. It does have a larger tank at 13.5L. Not cheap though.
There are a couple of 2nd hand ones on eBay, but they are fairly pricy for what they are.

thanks for the replys guys it has been very help full any body shed any light on the pimples on the back panel I didn't want to pull the tape off that was covering them

If it's a Carver the long tubular 'tank' contained within the polystyrene (the back panel is the end of it) corrodes internally and the spots of corrosion eventually penetrate to the outside causing the pimples you see. Every pimple will eventually leak and, because tanks aren't available, mean the heater is scrap. The silver lining is that pretty well any more modern water heater is much more efficient and faster to heat up.

I took the op to mean the back panel of the van not the heater, which I think work perfect, no complicated electronics.

You're probably right about the back of the van. Carver did manage to squeeze some electronics in. I agree about them being simple and they used to be easy to fix. But the last one I had sprung a leak in the tank for the reason I described. I managed to get a new tank from a company who had taken over from Carver to supply spares - long gone by now I assume. Given the state mine was in when I replaced the tank I don't believe they'll be worth repairing now. And they were inefficient - the entire burner end was exposed to atmosphere just behind the 'flue' cover.

Edit: There is one 2nd hand tank on eBay & it looks pretty decent.

yes i did mean the back panel on the van it seems to have pimples or raised areas not quite sure how you would fix them whether you could da sand them down and fill and paint over them any thoughts

A pimple effect used to be a feature on caravans and early motorhomes. However if it's just on the rear panel it would seem to be something different. Couple of photos would help, although the fact it is covered with tape makes me a tad suspicious it's hiding something. Proceed with caution and don't lay out any cash until you've resolved it is my advice.

If you are looking at buying this van and it's otherwise just the van you want, the water heater is not a big problem, and if it came to the worst you could get a whole thing for £200 but if it's only the burner easy fix, the pimples are probably corrosion if it's alloy, and again not a deal breaker and both things are a good lever for getting a good discount , make sure though it's not damp or rotten in the inside walls and floor, as that is a different kettle of fish altogether and best left alone.
And k reg means there is probably rust somewhere on the base vehicle, these are far worse problems than the heater and back wall.
