Hi
Ref: C-Tourer 150 A class on the light chassis. Currently 3.5t
Fully loaded today, I decided to pop her on the weigh bridge. I’m embarrassed, so I’m not gonna tell you.

What’s the maximum I could up plate to?

I realise that it would include air suspension & new wheels, but not worth doing if I can only gain 150kg or so.

Contact SV Tech, they will be able to advise. There's an online form to fill in on their website I seem to recall.

I assume it is an Alko chassis. What weights are shown on your manufacturer's/converters plate?

Thank you. You should be able to increase your gross weight to 3850kg as a paper exercise. SV Tech or similar would be able to give you the definitive answer.

With no mods?

Jackd Are those the only plates on the vehicle? If so it is already plated over 3500 it is either 3650 or 3850 depending on which is the later plate. The van should not have been registered as 3500. It shouold be easy to correct the error with DVLA.

The chassis is the same on my van when I upgraded using SVTECH i wanted to increase the rear axle limit because it was overloaded at 2000kg. I had to have semi air suspension fitted and larger rated tyres. This increased the axle limit to 2240. You didnot say what the actual weights are is the back axle overloaded at the moment?

I think Stufe 2 on the white plate means phase 2 and is porbably the plate put on by cathargo at build so the van is alredaty plated at 3850kg.

Yes, it’s the only plates. Fiat plate, alko plate but nothing from Carthago.
And yes, you’re right, I didn’t mention how much over I was :censored::censored::censored:

If I recall that van has a massive garage. Be careful with that rear axle, you could easily overload it.

To gain the extra weight capacity , we carried a scooter in the garage, we went the SV route. Uprated tyres and rear air assist suspension. I would have the air assist in the future given a choice as the ride is much improved.

That’s interesting as we had air on our last van and I found it very harsh, however we have air assist on our Adria Sonic and that’s lovely, so I do think it varies depending on the van/installation

It’s certainly an a more realistic and achievable target ;)
They’re blummin heavy things these carthagos, I’ve just had to jack mine up to 5 tons😱😱
My old Adria Sonic was nowhere near as heavy and with everything in (and I mean everything) I still had 300kg spare at 4250kg MAM

Our old van was 5t, oh what luxury!
Truth be told, with nothing in here, I’d be genuinely surprised if we got in under 3.5t.

How do you know it's 3500kg gross weight?
If a previous owner downrated to 3500kg you will be close, if not over, the 3500kg max weight.
Uprating to 3850kg should be a simple job with no upgrades

There should also be a "stuffe 3" plate somewhere, usually on the door shut, that is the final Carthago plate. This will confirm your actual weight, which normally matches the AL-KO stuffe 2 plate. Unfortunately the dealer does not always remember to fit it. As already said to go to 3850kgs is a paperwork exercise, but Van Weight Engineering will give you more info on the next steps to go higher.

If you pay £165 tax it’s 3850kg if you pay over £250 it’s 3500kg👍

Yeah, unfortunately, no “stuffe 3” plate.
I will check the COC when I get back home, but seem to remember 3.5t being on that doc

£250. But that’s because it has 3.5t on the V5

We have a C-Tourer i138 uprated to 4350. When we went to the weighbridge, full of water, full fuel, all our gear from old motorhome plus big lafuma chairs we still had over 900kg payload to spare...

What we're your axle weights?
If on the limit on the rear you might not gain anything unless you add semi air to the rear approx £2k if 15" wheels tyres will need changing, 16" should be OK, then you can go to 2240kg on the rear.
