Living in Scotland, which do you reckon (if any) is best to join and why?

Just joined CAMC.

Cost me £58 squiddlies but got £65 squiddlies off our booking for their site in York, so technically I saved a few bob 👍🏻

Both for us too, keeps a wider choice of sites available.

Both because each has it's value in a different place. Camping & Caravanning Club is my go to most weekends and for their fantastic value THS holiday meets all over the country and 5 van CL sites. Caravan & Motorhome club for their excellent commercial sites and 5 van CS sites

Oh and the C&CC because we get breakdown cover that covers our 5 tonne 8.5m tag axle even on a field

If you PM me, I am happy to offer my details for a referral to either club

Both for us as well.
For us it’s choosing the site with best weather...at the time
So raining in Moffat...we will go to Stonehaven or Oban or Anywhere 👍☀️

is either club any good if you dont want to book ahead and just stop for one night when touring round

We’re in both and before pandemic always just used to turn up without booking, avoiding peak times of course. Recently have booked online or phoned on day of arrival

As I have said before it’s hardly going to break you, join both and try them. What you like others might hate.

Binned the C&MC as we no longer require to use the one site we did when members . Another reason being the blatant block booking abuse by ( some) members of that club . Which ( as we found out ) was the cause of in our particular case ,making it nigh on impossible to get a short notice booking for that one site we used .

We have no particular interest in using fully fledged campsites or cs/cl type places , so having reviewed our touring wants, needs etc we have joined the C&CC , purely for their Temporary Holiday Sites and District Association meets facilities , as they offer good overnight stopover locations for us , on our regular quite long journey when visiting family .

We are members of both. We don't use the main sites very often, but make great use of the CL & CS sites. Useful for insurance & breakdown cover.

Sounding like an echo chamber in here - we're members of both too :) Just a bit more flexibility, and not expensive in the grand scheme of things.

We’ve done exactly this a few times. Just called in and asked. We’ve been lucky so far and each time have been ok to stay.

We've been in both but now just the C&MHC. We prefer their sites, especially the CLs and we like their Red Pennant Insurance.

Both for me as well but seem to use ccc club sites the most.

We're only in CCC now, used to be in both but found we weren't using the CAMC sites or CLs. We mainly use the DA meets and THS and some CSs. Also use the occasional club site if it happens to be where we want to go.

Both for us too. I'm reassured to see others of the same opinion as there often negative views of campsites in general on here.

Both
CCC for THS's and both for their CL's and CS's
Very very rarely use there own sites.

As many have said, for us it's both, suits us for our needs (y)

I was pleased to hear the rumour that The CMC was to introduce a deposit system, like most other clubs & sites, to stop the misuse of the booking system.
Well, it sure took them long enough to listen to its "members", If a deposit system is implemented (It may be already for 2022) not sure?. then, if they also provide the choice of having Non Electric pitches on all their sites and reduce pitch fees accordingly, then I might consider joining again.
Main site pitch fees are getting way out of hand, mainly due to electricity price increases, CL & CS offer better value as we dont all want shower blocks having a self sufficient van, but everyone has a choice, it just angers me to have to pay for facilities that we dont want or need, others will use them, so are happy to pay, but a choice would be nice.
I know many will disagree, but no way am I happy to spend over £30 per night, outside of peak times, regardless of location.
I will now park next to "the Peg" and await the incoming flak.:imoutahere:

TinaL No flak from me.... I agree 100% with you...
Don't see why I have to pay for leccy I dont want to get hard standing pitch and as we all know most hard standing pitches include leccy.

Last time I checked on The CMC website, having taken their website suggestion of "reduce your pitch fee by selecting a non EHU Pitch" or words very similar, I did a full UK nationwide search and only 11/12 campsites offered them.o_O Yes they were grass also, but that wouldn't worry me so much if they were available.
I dont know if that has changed from 2 years ago, but it should, especially for MH's or vans that are self sufficient.
