I am struggling to tax my mh because i sent the log book off in March for a variation in the weight

I have still not recieved it back from DVLA, tried putting the old 11 digit no in but it dont recognise it.

Will i get charged or put an extra owner on the logbook if i fill the form out at the post office for a new log book and is this free

I would contact DVLA and tell them you have not received your amended V5. They do charge if you request a replacement so I would personally not go down that route.

They are taking a long time, I sent off for a tractor log book at the end of march, it came two days ago.

Lanerboy There is another box to tick, isn't there, where you can say that you haven't got the V5 in your possession.
It's hardly your fault that you haven't got the V5.

I’m in the same boat re increasing weight limit and sent my V5 off for amending just before lockdown and not heard anything. On another post last week someone had done the same and only just received it back so they are presumably like everywhere working with a skeleton staff. I did try to ring but they were not taking phone calls just a recorded message this may change over the next few days hopefully.

I've just done a 'dummy' (apt for DVLA) run and found that their system doesn't allow for your circumstances.

There was a section to allow for a person to vent their feelings. I have done so on your behalf.
It wouldn't harm for us all to point out to the DVLA that they can't have it both ways.

This is a difficult one, I bought a motorcycle off my mate, he had sent off 5 V5's 13 weeks ago when he moved house to get a change of address, he has written two letters, countless emails and phoned all to no avail.
I can't Tax the vehicle as I don't have the V5. Options open to me are to apply using the form V62 which will cost me £25 and can take up to 6 weeks, that's in none covid times so it's anyone guess in the current climate.
So looks like I will just have to sit it out and wait until the DVLA get their act together.
All options of you not having the V5 are based on the owner's fault, there is no avenue considered were the DVLA have lost or have not returned the V5.

I tried to ring dvla last week got a recorded message but got through on the fifteenth attempt, after talking to them i was no wiser waste of time, its time all this dvla crap was simplified even the dvla dont what they are doing never mind jo public. Bill

I have to say a few weeks ago i changed reg keeper details online and got new v5 in 5 days, then changed reg number and got new v5 in 5 days think I if poss to do it all online dont post anything .

I take it as it doesn't recognise the V5 number you can't SORN it either to avoid the fine.

Why can't you use the 16 digit number on the renewal reminder?

I'm glad I'm not the only one currently at the mercy of DVLA. :(

My V5 (and the accompanying engineer's letter of certification) was signed for by DVLA on 22nd March at 08.59hrs. I am still waiting for it's replacement.

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I have my V5C here, section 12 states if you buy a vehicle and want to tax the vehicle immediately use section 10 ( V5C/2 ) which you should have filled in and kept when you bought said motor, hope that helps. Bill

I've been there. The number expires at end of the month.
Luckily I had made a copy of the v5

Me too, which allows me to re tax the MH on Wednesday. (y)

I have just checked using the 11 digit serial number, and it is still valid, which tells me that the replacement V5 hasn't even been processed yet. :(

Cheers,

Jock. :)

I keep getting a load of emails about their online sales of private reg numbers. They are busy selling them not dealing with other stuff.(n)

I brought a Private Reg last weekend and the company did the online registration Wednesday and I got the V948 on Thursday via email and the new logbook dropped through the door this morning.

Sods law says they will issue new one day before you can tax it, cancelling the number you have, do it asap

Taxed ours today after 3 months SORN, used the V5 with the 11 digit number, very fast process.

Taxed ours from 1 July this morning, just using the V5 11 digit number after SORNing it end March.
Just got back home and done the same. Yesterday, it would only allow me to apply for tax from June 1st. Today however, like you, I was given a choice.

All done and dusted until next year. (y)

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Wow people still send off the V5 instead of doing it online 😳

As far as I am aware, as an individual, you cannot up plate/down plate your vehicle online. It has to be done via snail mail, providing the correct documentation along with the current V5. Fortunately photocopies were made of everything, prior to posting.

Cheers,

Sold my BMW three weeks ago, I had it on SORN, I had to tax it to take off the personalised number, but, it would not allow an on line application,
I had to print off the relevant forms for the transfer, enclose a cheque for the fee and the V5. Correct address to the DVLA registration transfer dept.
The buyer is phoning every day asking if the V5 has turned up. At the moment he is driving the car with my number on it and I have to leave it taxed so he does not get pulled on an ANPR check.

No doubt the bosses at the DVLA will get a reward from the government for their good work during this stressful time.

I have to assume that DVLA lost my V5 and accompanying letter, as they sent me a V62, saying that if I filled that in, they'd issue me with a new V5, which obviously, I would have to pay for. I don't need a "NEW" V5, just an updated V5.
I pointed out to them that a V62 cannot be used, where there has been a change in the vehicle details. Now then, if I'm aware of that, why aren't they? Having had enough, I included photos of the relevant documents, which they appear to have lost, along with a screenshot of the tracking results, when I replied to their email, and asked for confirmation of their receipt.
Just over an hour later, I received an email informing me that a V5 had been issued with the revised changes, with it's arrival within a few days. Now then, call me sceptical if you like, but 12 x weeks of communications, with no results, yet on production of photographic evidence, all is sorted, and their vehicle check website updated???:unsure::unsure:

Cheers,

Jock. :)

Hi all

Update

After a lot of calling and arguing i have got DVLA to tax it, the stupid person's kept saying they were unable to tax it due to the upgrade in the gross weight etc MIGHT make a difference to the tax costs.

Eventually i got there after explaining there was no cost differences and getting thus verified bt another dept they did it, but god they make it difficult

I am glad I wasn't on my own, at the mercy of DVLA. 😉
Glad to see you managed to get it sorted. 👍

Waste of time paying for and sending anything 'recorded signed for' too DVLA.
They receive hundreds of mail items each day, they can't sign for all the items, they would need a department just for that.
I suspect they sign per mailbag if anything.... Doesn't mean your item is in the bag though.

Wasn’t the post just about taxing a vehicle after a move and not about up or down plating 🤔😊
