I'm a newbie
We land at Dieppe at 3pm on the 15th heading south to Spain. Any suggestions for a campsite (ie bookable) for our MH, which we can reach within 2hr? Our first trip to Europe in The Mothership, so keen to minimise stress levels on our first night! Initial research indicates the majority are closed and many of the rest are full.. If no offers for a campsite then a recommendation for an aire likely to have space arriving at c 5pm would be appreciated.

All The Aires and park4night are good starting points to give you a selection of Aires. Though the best options are those from other funsters!

You will struggle to find a 'full up' Aire around your chosen first stop this time of year once you move away from the coast.

No campsites will be open that time of year but plenty of Aires, have a look on Camper Contact.

Make sure you travel with a full water tank the Aires will be open but water is often turned off between November & March and last year we found most turned off in September due to Covid.

Most of our trips we start at Dieppe if you look at my trips, links in my signature, I put photos of where we stop with coordinates.

There is a great free Aire at Montville, which is just off the route from Dieppe to Rouen.

we have stayed there are a few times, its adjacent to a lake, where you can take a nice evening or morning stroll or jog aorund it on a flat level path (or use the exercise eqpt). The Aire itself has about 12 bays from memory, but is adjacent to a car park, where i have seen 'overflow overnighting on more than one occasion. There is also a sports centre with massive car par also adjacent to the lake, again i have seen 'overflow overnighting' on the sports centre car park.

There are shops, inc a boulangerie within about 200 yards of the Aire, i think there are restaurants, but we have never used them. we have used it on our first night and our last night in France and would highly recommend it, It is supposed to have free wifi, but we have never tried it, so cant comment.

PS - theres a great crazy golf course adjacent in the park itself, if you got space for a putter and balls, have a go for free.

I cannot say for certain about its current position but I’ve stayed before at an ACSI campsite, Sainte Claire, at Neufchâtel en Brey, not very far away, and adjacent the site and run by them is a beautiful new Aire built about 6 years ago. From recollection it had water & electric on the very spacious pitches, even a laundrette, but no toilet or showers, which surprised me really. There is a big E’Leclerc supermarket on the approach road with fuel too and it’s just off the motorway

PS just found it on Google & website is HERE open all year it says

The way I read the website link the actual campsite at neufchatel en bray is closed until April. The Aire will probably be open though.

Why, hardly any Aires have toilets or showers.
Isn’t it becoming clear that so many people do not realise what an Aire/ Camperstop/Spelplatz actually is and the true usage of them being there?
So many appear to think full Campsite facilities should be provided.

And then the fear of not being booked in etc.

Camping St Claire campsite closed in February, but yes next door aire (same ownership) 'open all year' - cost €12 euro.

It surprised me because it is not like any other Aire I have seen, it is owned by the full campsite next door, it has large hard standing, separated & hedged fully serviced pitches and a laundrette. I would have expected to see a toilet block in those surroundings because it was just like a campsite and I have stayed on camper stops with them that were no where near as well equipped as that one. 😜

The link I included in the post was the English site description 😊 It says it is open all year, unlike the campsite

Stayed there several times. There's a single indoor toilet and shower, no charge. The owner even helped us fill with water from an inside tap when the outside tap was frozen one January. Nice family owned aire and simple electronic payment linked to the barrier.
