Cambelt change cost

Hi can anybody give me a ballpark idea of cost for a cambelt change on a 2008 Renault Master done at a local garage (Leeds area)

And is it strictly necessary to get the auxiliary belts and waterpump done at same time or is it just good practice

My A class Hymer cost about £800 using fiat parts incl water pump. But someone will be along to say they got it done for £50. You don't say if PVC or A class ?

No need to get the auxilery belts or water pump done, but for a few quid, whilst youve already paid about 500 for the labour to dismantle, youd be daft not doing so.

Coach built so standard cab and bonnet access

All done through the wheel arch and bonnet. Aux belts why not, the water pump is driven off the engine not by an aux belt and requires water and oil to be drained down. I replaced mine not sure if it needed replacing felt and sounded fine at 45,000 miles, won't bother next cam belt change. Parts £118 plus oil and antifreeze, labour did it my self with tea breaks and subsequent loo breaks under 6 hours and an hour of that was replacing the wheel arch broken retaining clips. No air tools used so expect 3 - 4 hours labour.

Exactly as above, with the correct timing tools it’s a straight forward job, checked my water pump and it’s perfectly fine, it’s driven by the timing gears so no side loading so will last a very long time,
Auxiliary belt is worth replacing then keep the old one for a spare,
buy a quality cam belt Kit complete with jockey wheel and adjuster, I Used Gates but other reputable makes are available,
job can be completed in two hours if you know what you are doing, so most garages will charge you four plus parts,

I have never understood why people do that. If you're going to have to use it why would you carry and fit an old one rather than take a new one with you?

Simple reason is the one I removed was still serviceable and if the new one should be damaged I still can replace it with no problem,
Im from the era of carrying points / plugs/condenser/ fan belt and so forth, admittedly the serpentine belts used today are much more reliable than the old V poly belts from the sixties,

i got it done last feb for £49
No water pump first replacement not reccomended. not A class nor PVC
ah forgot the other £705.

£770 for belt + pump at a Fiat pro dealer , thought it too important to cut corners with anyone else

I had one fitted in August this year. The quote was £702 for MOT, cam belt and water pump. They rang about 2hours later- it’s passed MOT but the belt kit doesn’t come with the water pump, if you still want the water pump, it’s £80 more and 4hour labour. Total cost was £1040.
