Hi all,
I've aC1 for 20yrs, wife is provisional. Test centres booked 10 months ahead. I can't find any guidance, can my wife drive with Lplates withC1 provisional when I'm there like in a std car?
If you have C1 derived from a car test prior to Jan 1997 then the answer is no. If you have C1 by virtue of a test in that category (theory and practical, then the answer is yes.
I'm no expert on these things but surely if you have the c1 entitlement regardless of how its obtained you can supervise a learner in that category of licence provided the learner has provisional entitlement
As Nigel P said no you cannot supervise a learner driver unless you have sat and passed the driving test for the category of vehicle and also held the category for 3 years or more as well.
Ok I have an hgv class 1 passed my test prior to the invention of theory tests and have never taken a c1 test but have that entitlement by virtue of the hgv or gaining my car licence prior to 1997 gaining on what Niger p says that means I cannot supervise an hgv learner or a c1 learner which seems a bit silly to me
Grummyb yes you can due to the fact that you have sat and passed what is now called a category c+e driving test, category c1 is a sub category of category c.
