I have thought of leaving if they don’t price with or without leccy. I don’t need it and begrudge paying for those that do. Ohh, I’m so mean at times

Wouldn’t surprise me, they have a talent for doing the wrong thing. I suspect any further price increases will be justified by the cost of installing meters and putting up posters reminding us that turning lights off and not heating your awning saves energy.

To my mind the cost of putting Pitch Metering in will be significant. The simplest thing to do is put a 6A MCB in each post that will limit usage to something reasonable (1.5KW max). I've alway done my nut when I see 3KW heaters blazing away in a caravan awning with no one sitting in it.

I thought the reason for including electric in the pitch price was to get around the law that allows you (the end user) to use the cheapest suppliers and promote competion in the electricity supply sector. This only applied if the electricity was supplied seperately. Unlikely to have motorhomers trying to invoke the law but when it came to seasonal pitches, which a lot of sites have it was a potential nightmare.

Having paid for CAMC Wi-Fi for the last 2 years l can confirm that it is patchy depending on the site & certainly not worth the money. Oh & don’t ring the helpline as the phrase chocolate fire guard springs to mind.

It's been overdue BUT

There will always be people who leave heaters on 24/7 and maybe they do at home as well so who am I to judge, just because I dont use as much electric as they do onsite
A campsite is an 'all inclusive' holiday as far as the technicalities go, once you pay your money then you can leave a tap running in your van, use as much electric as your ehu connection will let you or shower in the toilet block 24/7
The attitude of CMC is laughable when they say ehu is included but please dont use it I wonder what their attitude would be if I paid by cheque but asked them please dont cash it they need to rethink their public image

Not everyone has 9 million watts of solar and 12 lithium batteries (joke ) so they need ehu
I worry about the people who have special needs for ehu....medical equipment,etc...that metering might end their touring holidays for good
Electric costs are an issue, at home or on holiday, but clear options need to be available
Most campsites, and the entire touring leisure industry, are stuck in the 70s with their attitude to ehu.......will it change overnight or get any cheaper..not a chance......but it 'may' result in more choice for all of us in the end

In the last week we have stayed at C&CC Devizes, free WiFi that worked well enough to stream YouTube etc.

Also stayed at C&MC at Winchester and Henley on Thames, both had “pay for” WiFi.

I agree that some pitches on some C&CC sites are limited in their WiFi reception, but I have found that asking the Wardens, in advance of pitching, usually elicits advice on which pitches have best coverage.

Certainly I did that at St Neots a couple of times. Then gas got to a very low level so went and paid for 2 days worth of hook up

But is not metered EHU the same as metered electricity at home abeit at a higher cost? CAMC will be paying commercial rates with no grants.

OK people your not going to like this but at home we have a standing charge, I can run the house on solar and not draw a single watt from the network but I still have that standing charge for the Meter.

So if you are on a pitch with a meter you will pay for what you use but as it has a Meter you will pay a standing charge on that pitch even if you do not draw a single Watt so its unlikely costs will go down am I going to get flamed for posting this. You know im just playing devils advocate

Surely it depends on whatever the commercial standing charge is? Presumably the site pay a single standing charge not one for each pitch? How they pass that on to customers is another story.

If each pitch has a meter, the site could choose a standing charge per meter
