Burstner PVC OEM+
Exp
Since 2010
Thought I would start a new thread on modifications adaptions and improvements that people might have made to their Burstner PVCs. We have had ours for roughly six months now upgrading from our T5 Transporter of over a decade so have now started on the little tweeks improvements and personalisations that make things more homely now we have spent a fair few nights away.

I will take a few pictures of my modifications and post them up in a bit.

One of the areas we have not yet thought of a solution for is the general waste bin. We store empty bottles in the drivers door pocket for the bottle bank which seems to work. Not being able to have the bin on the habitation door like on traditional vans means it needs to go somewhere else so we are currently just having a bin bag flapping about!

We have an auto sleepers Warwick PVC, but I’m always interested in modifications! We clamp our bin bag open to the back of the passenger seat, where there is a map pocket. Not ideal, but it’s near the kitchen, and by the door, and provided I don’t let it get too full, it’s fairly easy to get in and out of the door still!

We also traded up to a Hymer PVC from a T6 last September.
Done a few modifications, Lithium batteries, spare wheel carrier on rear door, having semi air fitted soon, small graphics and fitted a BIN.
Small but very useful-see picture.
Presently looking for cargo nets to hold smaller item.
Really looking for better quality than the normal ebay stuff.
Looking for the net frame to be metal, ideally silver in colour not the normal cheap plastic one's from China.
Look forward to seeing your mods.

Our first modification was to make a step cutout in the garage panel so my wife could get into bed easier. Other manufacturers have this as standard so I copied that, it will eventually be replaced with something better and be integrated into the sliding bike tray I’m going to make for the garage.

The table was our next issue, well the shear size of it & the fact that it’s actually supposed to be stowed away whilst travelling. I guess this is because it’s not properly fixed on and would hurt if it hit you if involved in an accident. As we never used our table in the T5 apart from outside I relocated the flip up worktop extension to make a drinks table and boxed the original one up for storage.

Finally we got a 10 inch Android floating head unit for navigation. I like my Garmin sat navs but have been unimpressed with the Kenwood JVC offering we have in the car and this is a quarter of the price and I prefer it!

Another one I forgot, although covered on here loads already.

We swapped the central glovebox for the twin cup holder version as we missed somewhere easily accessible for our water bottles when driving.

I even sold the old glovebox on eBay so it only ended up costing £20.

What make is the floating head unit? Is it a standalone unit or single/double din?

Also where did you get that bin?

Keep the ideas coming!

Cheers James

Headunit is an Amazon Vanku 10.1 for about £300 that Gadget John has and it’s great. It’s a double din so you need to buy the cage to fit it.

Few more improvements to the van recently:

Slide out drawer under the bed for my bike, two SUPs and fire supplies

Lots of quick fist mounts to stop things rattling:

Todays task was the ground work for a little subwoofer (packaged as a bass enhancer) so I ran all the cables and fitted another USB charger with voltage display along with a 3 way switch to have the headunit on leisure battery vehicle battery or off.

Up to the Lakes tomorrow for a few days to test everything out.

I had that unit as well but hated it, sorry. Put in a alpine.

Funny you should say that it’s just started playing up crashing apps all the time so has just had an update. I couldn’t justify the 1k price tag of the Alpine originally but if it continues I’ll be reevaluating. We have a bells and whistles Kenwood in the car I wanted to match but needed the floating screen to help with the glare.

You can get anti glare covers. It's just like a plastic sheet to go over the screen. don't know how good they are though.

Just fitted a Rhino ladder to the rear for access to the roof and will be sound deadening and insulating the rear doors too.
