We have managed to modify the end of what I believe is a Thule awning ( no name on it and not yet used it ) 😱Oh
Had a fair quote of around £1000 to replace and fit , has anyone had anything like this repaired ? We are assuming the winding mechanism is damaged and in view of that is not able to be repaired.
Any advice would be greatly appreciated

All the parts are available if you are prepared to repair and paint the damage to the box. The endcap and gearbox are easy repairs

Is that something that an amateur could do ? and I guess parts are ordered direct from a Thule stockist

PS: we had a new awning fitted to our new van 4 years ago,(£1190 fitted) only used it a few times, and when we did we were too concerned to leave it out overnight in case the wind picked up.
Would we have another? Err No, I dont think so, it weighs in at 55 KG's, hardy use it, so like many others we would now opt for a pop up tent, plenty of space with rear garage van.(y)
Me Again.:giggle:

It was an overhanging house balcony down a very narrow street in a french village. Someone had put a small metal barrier around a newly concreted post which made it even narrower we managed to nearly make it but had to swing slightly left to avoid hitting the barrier and it caused the back end to go right.
It was impossible to reverse
We were following a small aire sign that sent us down the street.
I have left a review about it on park 4 night !!!
I will follow up with Rose awnings
Thankyou so much for the link.

You could also try Hillview Awnings who are also in Dorset and are also very helpful.

for end caps

gearbox

Just examples, make sure you order for the right model. Fitting is as easy as taking a few screws out, sliding off the broken parts and reverse the process

If you are doing a DIY repair I would also check that the awning mountings have not been disturbed as this COULD result in a leak into the wall.

I would also consider writing to the local Marie, it may be that the additional barrier was installed incorrectly and reduced the road width unlawfully. If you're still in the area it might be worth taking a few measurements and photos?

Whilst you're up three have a shuftie at the roof as there's something iffy going on in the corner bit which looks to have be stuffed up with silicone or something.

Yes it looks dodgy 😓 it’s going back to travelworld for some warranty work In the new year so will have it all checked.

Thanks to everyone for the really helpful advice. I spoke with John from Rose awnings , he looked at the photo and said it should be fixable and they have all the spare parts in stock ! So thanks to those who said it was doable !!
Going to give it a try , he also suggested after looking at the photos that we put a strap on it as the gears hold it closed and as they are broken it may open up ! 😱

We are too scared to try at the moment as we are in France making our way back home and worried we wouldn’t be able to get it back in !
We called in at Thule in Belgium a couple of years ago and they rebuilt our awning 280€

Get the awning fixed first otherwise if there is a problem they will blame you & won't do it under warranty.

I’ve already complained direct to niesmann bischoff as one of the reasons it’s going back is the leak in the roof they have put down to the sog. Travelworld said they would fix the leak but not the stained ceiling ! I thought that was rubbish
Niesmann head office told them they have to deal with it correctly to my satisfaction
