Just about to get the ferry at Holyhead for a 3 week jaunt in Ireland and the fridge freezer has packed up ! Tried all the usual remedies without success.
Does anyone know someone in Ireland who can deal with this please ?
Early unprofessional diagnosis points towards a themacouple or element ….or worse

Be grateful for any information

Make and model would be helpful,3 way,AES,compressor? unlikely that the 12v and 240v elements would both fail.
Does anything light up at all ?

If you google Dometic (Electrolux) caravan fridge repair agents you should get a list of repair agents for the part of Ireland you are going to visit or on your route. You may need to know the actual Model number when you contact them. (It could be on a label inside the fridge cabinet)

Unfortunately this isn’t the case though I’ve managed to locate a guy in Dublin that suggested that the appliance may have to be removed and placed upside down for 24 hours !! Bizarre but is this a worthy diagnosis ?

RM RA 2D is the fridge type the actual model will be RM followed by 4 x numbers and in your case , as has been said , it may be a RM6505 Model which would not be the same as the later RM8xxx models which can have the door sensor problems,
Some people have managed to get their fridges working by placing them upside down for a while but I believe this only sometime works with fridges that will not cool even though all of the controls are working ok. (It gets things in the cooling tubes moving as it should I think)
I can only think that maybe you could ask at any Motorhome/Caravan dealers you come across who they use for fridge problems , which they must come across very often and need to have fixed.
If your fridge is a RM6505 it will have 2 x PCB s one for the control panel and another for the power board (which has 2 x fuses on it) and it may be worth checking connections are tight including any earth ones you can find.

Well we now have the fridge turned upside down in the van and to be honest I’m not very confident about the outcome
Many thanks for your advice ….will let you know the outcome shortly

While it is out , when it is the correct way up , you should be able to check the fuses that are in the power board electronic control that should be on the top of the fridge/freezer.
