We are about to switch a caravan for a MH.

The caravan insurance is with Caravan and Motorhome Club and the breakdown cover is RAC via Arrival with the Camping and Caravan Club.
The RAC cover has our tow car as the named car.

Thinking back to when we previously owned a MH, we had RAC cover but it may have been arranged through Comfort.

We will need recovery for both MH and car.

Do people have separate policies, MH recovery arranged through insurance and car recovery directly?

Or what?

Nationwide Flex Plus account £13 pm, covers any vehicle you are in (2 cars and our motorhome in our case), any where in EU. So long as your MH is not over 8 m long.

Used the breakdown on a few occasions, very impressed.

Comfort do offer motorhome cover alongside their insurance cover.

I have personal cover that covers my me to drive any car - but I assume it doesn't include motorhomes. I've never checked to be honest. My motorhome is less than 2 years old so is still covered by Fiat warranty so I haven't taken specfic breakdown cover yet.

AA Gold covers you and any member of your family that lives at the same address for any vehicle they/you are in regardless of ownership.

We are covered by Green flag for all our vehicles. The motorhome is 8 meters and £105 ...I am covered for all cars at £35 so all in £140 for my truck and any car I drive!
Part of the Ageas group and covers all

I checked my RAC Arrival policy terms and conditions and found an anomaly in the documents sent on renewal in October 2021. One says there is no restriction on size, the other says 3.5 tonnes. I will contact them to clarify.

Our policy currently names the vehicle.
RAC seem to offer two variants; named vehicle and named driver.
Will be talking to them to see which is better for us.
We have Arrival / RAC breakdown cover through the Camping and Caravanning Club.

We opted for named drivers using any vehicles - so Mrs mikebeaches and I each have breakdown cover for the van and our two cars, plus any other vehicles either of us might be driving.

I believe the continental cover is for up to 350 days a year, which is way more than most. Also covers any size / weight motorhome.

It works for us. (y)

Janine, looking at the wording it may be that the tow car/van must be under 3.5 tonnes for towing cover.
I know that some "residential" caravans from Hobby and the like are 2.5 metres wide and so must be towed by a vehicle of over 3.5 tonnes (allegedly to disadvantage Travellers).
This may be the source of the restriction.

But you need a mortgage to be able to afford it!

Checked, and it doesn't cost much more to have two of us covered for any vehicle, just a bit more than having two named vehicles but a lot more cover.
