Hi Funsters,
Braithwaite fold site now renamed Bowness on Windemere on CCC site, bookings available until January with no toilet/shower facilities available on-site. Next year bookings are blanked out and i can only presume its because of an upgrade to these facilities.
Stay Safe
Kind Regards Darren

Braithwaite has always been Braithwaite. It’s not quite Bowness...

Yes you’re quite correct. Braithwaite is just west of Keswick, but Braithwaite Fold is at Bowness.
It can be confusing.
Still, it’s a lovely site and it’s nice to see it opening again.👍

Why do the CCC insist on calling their sites by misleading names? Their Hereford site is miles from Hereford and their Winchcombe site is in the middle of nowhere! And whilst I am on a roll they must be joking when they say their Blackmore (Malvern) site is in the Wye valley? That’s like saying London is on the Mersey.....

I've booked Winchcombe for next year, is it any good?

"Quiet rural location with fishing lake" - usual club standards for showers etc. and near to a heritage railway site (can't remember the name) which runs to Cheltenham racecourse. It's quiet and remote if that's what you want and quite easy to reach from the M5.

It's in a nice spot, just dont expect to be able to walk into Winchcombe! There are 2 pubs quite close by, although the Gardeners Arms in Alderton (the nearest village) is the most expensive pub I've ever been to! It's very nice though and the food is excellent, just make sure you have lots of spare change!
I'm told that the lake on site hasn't got many fish in it unless it's been restocked over the winter. Winchcombe is certainly worth a visit, as is Broadway that's not far away. The Cotswolds are on your doorstep as well.
