Hi

We are quite new to motor homing as only got our van last year we are looking to go to Spain via France at the end of Jan coming back beginning of April and was wondering how the best way to book the euro tunnel is. we have a 7.5 tonne van and a dog, any help please would be appreciated. ( if I've posted this in the wrong place I'm sorry new to this as well. Thanks Sharon

If you’re a member of the CCC book through them for a 10%discount. Tesco points can also be used. Otherwise, just book direct on their website.
Its not the weight, it’s the length that dictates cost.

Hi Sharon
Just book on line. It's quite straight forward. Some people on here join forces to get frequent traveller tickets which are a lot cheaper but you have to pay up front for a minimum of 10 tickets between you

Tesco points need to be changed into vouchers for the crossing BEFORE you make the booking; then you have to ring them to redeem it and pay any balance. You need to know which crossings you want at this point - the voucher is valid for a while when you get it; have a great time xxx

Our is is a 5.25t van, and we too have a dog
We have noticed that prices are lower on Wednesdays.. and of course very late at night / early hours of the morning

You can use Tesco club points to good effect as you get 3 X their value

I have never found anywhere cheaper to book than their web site
Booking your motorhome is simple,as unlike a ferry booking they do not increase the price for longer motorhomes ( though they do now ask the length, but it for logistical reasons not for price hike )

If you book a return you are able to change your dates out and back as long as you give twenty four hours notice, no extra charge if crossing is same value or you are prepared to pay the extra. This can be done on-line. Half an hour journey and you are in France, so easy.

And Tesco vouchers aren't accepted for your dog, they want hard cash for man's best friend.

Don’t think you can book dogs using the clubs, only on line.

For the first time use the phone (can only do so for Tesco voucher anyway)
If you are lucky like a lot of us with blue badges make sure to tell them, disabled get access to the train first (to make it easier to get off in emergency)

Don't forget that they do a gas check at the terminal to make sure the gas is off

Thanks everyone ill look at the Tescos clubcards those

Hi All
Thanks Very much, another question is travel insurance where's the best place to get it as it seems its not standard to go long periods. thanks in advance.

A price for Travel Insurance will depend on where you want to go, for how long and any medical conditions that you might have

If there was a best place to get Travel Insurance, everyone would use them, and all the rest would go out of business ;)

Mine is due soon and I will compare my existing provider (Nationwide Plus Account) with Caravan & Camping Club, Avanti and Liverpool Victoria

We always use CMHC’s Red Pennant which covers health and breakdown insurance. We like to have everything covered by the same policy.

I always try to use the Tesco vouchers as £5=£15 BUT you must book at least 14days in advance (I think it's 14 days??) but go onto the website first so you know exactly what crossings suit you then phone and book.......all is straightforward and you talk to a real person even if then do charge you for the call but only at 7p per min and I've only ever been on for 5 mins.......there was a thread with a std rate telephone number, 01303282061.....thanks to 2x2camper
