Typical as ever, I’ve 100’s of £squiddlies worth of tools and carry most around with me, can’t help it, ex FRG A mech and yes, I’ve scraped my knuckles and have a big ammer.

Putting new pads all round and discs on the front and came across these. Rubbish machined allenbolts but just 2mm bigger than any of the tools I have. Always an extra challenge when it’s parked up in storage.

That’s another blooming supplementary box of sockets to add to the collection, which SWMBO said I could have got you those for Christmas 🤷🏼‍♂️🤦🏼‍♂️

Funny how I’m well happy if she gets me tools, so why isn’t it the same if I got her an iron or cutlery as thems are girls tools 🛠 🤷🏼‍♂️

I know some are biblically tight, but have you tried the screwdriver bit (or two) in the gap getaround? If you've got time though always best to get the right tool. Of which we can never have enough of.
As an FRG A mech he will know all of the get arounds 🙄 trust me .

We would agree you can’t have too many tools, “ just in case”! 🤗

Biblically tight, it’ll be the breaker bar when I get the tool set tomorrow. Recon they’re 14 or 16 mm.

Look at the rubbish quality and machining on this, just hope it doesn’t split when I get the tools tomorrow, cos it’s FT as we would say.

See as they share a common floor pan, are Citroën and Peugeot the same?

Now that’s a really good question and as a betting man I’d say yes, as the brakes are chassis mounted, so believe that they are.

Don’t worry, if the sockets that are arriving tomorrow do the task, I’ll let you know as they’re less than £20 squiddlies from Shamazon.

Yep I got caught out with that in France in 2019 ...had to buy a hex bit €18 ...

It's now in my vast selection of tools I carry with me

You will need the breaker bar but they come out OK. I did it in a snowy icy carpark in montpellier ....overheated the discs coming through the pyrenees. New discs ,pads and then a set of winter tyres to boot ..bloody French made a killing out of me that year

I have seen things on the tele which are induction heaters. They have a handle with a coil that goes around the head of the bolt. The power is turned on at it heats the bolt and not what it is screwed into. It cracks the hold between the two and when it cools it comes out.

Get new replacements , don’t re use👍
Well it will be a mass produced part that will be common on the floor plan. That's why the Japanese introduced torques.

The induction heaters are the new must have, and ARE brilliant, but pricey. One for my home workshop would be nice but extravagant.
I remember travelling some 300 miles a long while back to replace the discs and pads on FIL Renault. And blow me they'd change Allenn bolt hex into Pentagon. As Northernraider, had to go and buy one from a main dealer, Kevin Coopers hadn't caught up, but meant a return trip the following week.
And as REME, stop complaining and get on with it, unless you were a 'tif.
And Wildbill, 100%. lol.

When I did my Ducato X250 a couple of years ago, I found that all the brake studs had thread lock and it took my metre long breaker bar + my considerable weight to start them moving.

Your avatar says Kent,
I am on the CCC site at Canterbury Mon, Tues, Wed next week before going to the Dymchurch meet at the weekend
Somewhere I have a proper hexagon socket set which I could bring along with my 1000lb torque DeWalt impact wrench if they're needed and I can find the sockets?

let me know before Monday morning. Good Luck!

Hi.
Having been " Head Hunted " by HM Forces.... NOT a VOLUNTEER !!! They chose ME.... ...............( N/S.. :ROFLMAO: )......... I remember the letters B.L.R. These three letters shifted the problem down the line.( Still get the spanners though, off of your gert ;))
Jobs a good 'un.;)
Tea Bag.
PS. During my two year stint i DID manage on one occasion to be first in the NAAFI queue....

Nope. Just a clicking / beeping breaker bar

Silver-Fox is partly right but rarely will someone snap a large stud by hand but it has been known with help of an air gun.

Torque setting are a combination of, getting the correct tightness and not stretching the bolt too far. Most people do not realise that every time one torques a wheelnut to its proper extent, it also stretches the stud a little bit further and weakens it. this is why wheel-studs on older vehicles, should be changed but rarely are.
