Even Dee my boss has said this is taking looking for a quiet camp site too far, Borve Camp site on the Atlantic coast of Barra.
I love it, I would have a house here if she would let me. We are the only van on site today.👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

That close to the Atlantic, you can pretty much see the rust starting to eat your van. Don't forget to wash it really well when you get home, including underneath

A friend of mine had a new portacabin sited on the beach promenade at Bournemouth for his business. Within 3 years the chassis was holed with rust and big crystals of salt were growing in various places. The next year he went back to using a wooden chalet (shed) sat on railway sleepers and that lasted many years

Don’t worry the van is Galvanised and and ceramic coated but yes it will get washed on the way home next weekend. The night time rain storms help to keep the salt off.
Funny my wheels nuts started to rust within 3 weeks of getting the van !

They do seem to rust for fun, despite being galvanised.

My father and I at one time had an identical mini (the original), his was kept close tooth North Sea, mine inland in Lincoln. My father’s mini went rotten well before mine! However rustproofing has come a long way since 1963 (year of our minis)

Been there, say hello to Donald. Wonderful site and island, be sure to visit Vatersay. They used to do the best coffee in Scotland in the Post Office in Castlebay, along with scones to match.

Donald not about ,camp being looked after by Alan, who is FLT in his own van. Already missed the scones and had Flapjack, turns out they are from Yorkshire so we rattled on about Hebden Bridge and The Piece Hall in Halifax !,

Yep, nice couple who own Macroons Cafe / Post Office.
Pity the cafe on Vattersay will be closed, but good to park up anyway. Can you let us know if they have levelled out the parking area. They were supposed to be levelling out the parking area as it was very uneven.

Enjoy Barra & Vattersay.

Strange isn't it? you can almost spit from Todmorden to Hebden Bridge but mention Todmorden to people on your travels and they won't have a clue where it is despite it being the home town of Nobel prize winners Prof. Sir John Cockcroft (Physics) and Prof. Sir Geoffrey Wilkinson (Chemistry) John Fielden, (national leader of the Ten Hours Campaign for factory reform) Keith Emerson, (Emerson, Lake & Palmer) John Helliwell (Saxophonist Supertramp), Jeff Love (orchestra/Band leader) and of course the original travel "Vlogger" of his day William Holt.
I can still remember Trigger tied up outside what was then the Grapes pub. William liked a pint or two.

what an amazing man, william holt and his white horse trigger, going to have to look up more info about them..
wondering how he managed to get across the channel to europe with trigger, not like turning up at the ferry as a foot passenger with a bicycle, what wonderful adventures they must have had together..

loved the video, who doesn't love an eccentric..

That’s because “Tod” could never quite settle on either side of the Lancs/Yorks divide so is routinely forgotten about by both. I’ve worked there and lived nearby for many years. It is a little unusual but hey, so is Hebden Bridge in lots of ways!
