My van has:
  • a kitchen tap in the SMEV sink/cooker. The microswitch has failed and we've been filling the sink by turning on the washroom tap and putting our finger over the spout for the past 6 weeks of our euro-tour.
  • a washroom tap in the fold-up sink unit. I'm on the third one as the previous two started leaking after a couple of months use. Has to fold flat!
  • a shower tap. Same design as the sink, but with a hose attached. Not replaced it yet (probably because it's used less often), but it feels like the switch is going.
The rest of the setup includes a Thetford loo that pumps in water on a button and the water heating system. I've got an accumulator. I think the pump is just wired so it comes on when the switches are triggered and if the pressure gets too great it does eventually stop.

The question is, what are the best taps? The ones I have at the moment (Comet? but not the current models) keep failing! If I have to change from a microswitched system to pressure activated, I could do that (although I'll need some help). I want something reliable (or at least serviceable). The constraint is that they have to fold into a low profile to fit the SMEV kitchen unit and the washroom sink.

Any thoughts? Thanks.
