Our roof blinds have been stiff from new - is there any easy way to adjust them without taking them apart or what is the best product to use to lubricate them so they pull across more easily?

I would look at a dry lubricant. I used Harken McLube which is designed for dinghy sailing - essential with a new spinnaker in the chute. Thetford seal lubricant is also a dry lube - a quick squirt in the channels and work back and forth a bit should do the trick

I use the Thetford seal spray - any PTFE lube will do. Though, to be honest, the best running out of our three is the one who had a string pull through it's ferrule and yrs trly had to fix. Once you get them out the roof they're easy enough to take apart. 5 minutes concentration on how the strings are routed and their roles is needed though. You can then make another slot in the frame to slot the ferrule terminated string you wish to ease the tension on, in order to slacken off the tension which will make it run easier. If the ferrule pulls off you can pinch a lead fishing shot on as a sub. There's a bunch of vids on YouTube as well, but to be fair if you just lay it down and have a good look at it while you drink a mug of tea you should easily get the gist of how they work.

Thank you for the replies - have ordered dry PTFE spray by WD40 (y) The marine stuff looks excellent but couldn't stretch to that price wise.

Yes, it is a bit pricey - I used to buy it on my trips to USA. It is the best you can get If you are dinghy racing. Big spray down the spinnaker chute before you go out for the days racing and no issues with up and down even with a new kite. Used to spray it over the wooly telltales so they never stuck when wet. Works great on window rubbers etc

Wombles How well did the PTFE spray work in the end? I have the same problem with Mini Heki blinds that are stiff to pull across, but I don't want to use any lubricant that could get into the wrong places and end up staining the pleated blind.

It definitely makes it run better but it was yellowish (sets as a clear film) so applied it carefully with a clean rag on the cords & channel rather than spraying it on. Think that how much they are tensioned means they won't ever run that easily but manageable now whereas before felt like we would break them as so much force required.
