Mr Sheen, Not kidding, Used it on a badly faded R-V, which had sat in the Florida and Texas sun. Brought it up nicely, The guy who bought it thought so too!

I tend to use 3M Scotchgard liquid marine wax purely because of the enhanced UV protection for the GRP which helps curb the gelcoat yellowing.

Always used Mer . It seems to be ok for us. Hard work but it seems to last well. We have also tried Collinite and found it to be good too. Its just that we have a bucket of MER so we might as well use it up! (y)

Thats one of the gifts brought to Jesus by the 3 wise men. If its good enough for Jesus, its good enough for me. Jesus had a very shiny donkey dontya know

Pretty sure that Mer is a polish (ie used to polish off surface dullness / small scratches) and not a wax (used to seal and protect a polished surface) . Seek Charlie's advice in the detailing section.

Have they changed the tin style, mine doesn't look like this?

Do you have this type of tin?

It's just a smaller version. I bought an 18oz tin (on @Charlie s recommendation) November 2015, I wax my cars and van on a regular basis and have just finished that tin.

Bit of a semantics issue I think. Yes, Mer does contain a very fine abrasive which removes traffic film and very fine scratches. But unlike products such as T-Cut, it also contains a "poly-something" which leaves a shiny film on the paint so whilst it's not a wax in the truest sense of the word it achieves the same end. I think most automotive polishes (and/or waxes) are the same in that they contain an abrasive.
Whatever, I've used Mer on motorcycles and cars for years. It's effective on paint and chrome and it's easy to polish off - just don't use it on the windscreen!

I use Harly wax, really impressed with how long it lasts. And it doesn't leave white marks on the plastic (y)

I've used Harley wax too , also found it good, but I think Collinite lasts longer...
