Last week we stayed at adults only Old Oaks camping, at Wick, near Glastonbury, Somerset.

https://www.theoldoaks.co.uk/

The whole site is top notch with fine rural views, and rated 5-star.

But what struck us was the toilet block - it was a bit like stepping in to a posh hotel reception. There were individual private bathrooms with toilet, shower and washbasin.

Very pleasant place bit pricey but we also got a free night. If you look close enough on there website your find a free night offer if you have never camped with them before.

Indeed, it is a tad pricey, but at least the quality matches the cost.

Frustratingly, I didn't spot the free first night offer until we got home - doh! ;)

Still no regrets giving it a whirl...

That shower cubicle is bigger than the one in my PVC!

Yes it really is a nice site but as mentioned a bit pricey. Some years ago, and only for a short while, it was an ACSI discount card site. That's when we took advantage of it.

We were there last week as well, we had the pitch next to the toilet block on the left as you face it, the other toilet block that has just been refurbished has got individual cubicles that are even more luxurious, going back there in 3 weeks, once you have stayed here this is the site that all others are judged by.

Hi Paul
I give up!
I can't find it!
Please point me in the right direction.
Thanks
Andrea

Good heavens, we didn't look in the other toilet block. More luxurious you say... blimey, we'll have to go back and check 'em out! :D

Pricey or not, they must be doing something right because the place appeared to be full.

However, because of the layout, the size of the pitches and all of the open space, it didn't feel crowded.

The landscaping and planting is impressive.

Free Night Offer At Old Oaks Touring Park, Glastonbury, Somerset

@movan
Bookmark this thread you never know when it might come in handy.

Found this posh one in Austria, jolly expensive cost us €20 (another €3.50 for EHU if you wanted it) on the Sellaplatz, if you wanted to stay on the site I think it was €28.

Question for those who stayed at the Old Oaks. How far/long to walk into Glastonbury please?

Thanks

You can walk from the site into Glastonbury and up to the tor. Worth doing early in the morning before everyone gets up. Fantastic views from up there.

There are 2 routes you can take from the site without having to walk along the roadway, one is a “dry weather “ route and the other for when the weather is poor, I have not used them myself but I believe they are shorter, another plus point is you can order meals delivered to the site every night, 2 pizza nights, a Chinese night, Indian night, fish & chip night etc,
Well worth a visit.

Best ones we've ever seen where at Nattersee in Austria, the kids ones had flashing lights and sound effects for thunder and lightning and above the basin they had cartoons playing.

Forgot to mention there is a 300 yard fully enclosed dog walk, a doggy shower and even a dedicated washing machine for dog blankets etc in the toilet block

We've had our first 'van for 11 months now. The first site we ever went on was Old Oaks. We were blown away, it's expensive but exceptional. We really enjoyed the Indian curry night. Nice fishing lake and dog walk. We never walked into Glastonbury but got a taxi due to my wife's feet not being great.
Sorry to say it's all been downhill since then with regard to sites although the price of some are not so far away from the Old Oaks but the quality no where near as good:(

Thanks Olley.Wondered if there was a shortcut out the back of the site?

Never been but if you zoom in theirs a path up the back of the site which meets one that goes into the site in between hedgerows.

I was pitched up at the rear of the site and could hear people walking past at the other side of the hedge. Not sure if the were heading into Glastonbury or up to the Tor which is on the hill behind the site

Been here for a day so far.
Can confirm that the facilities would outshine a 5 Star hotel.

Very well maintained site. Immaculate in fact.

Had a pizza from the mobile wood oven last night. Great.

Shop is well stocked but not cheap. Captive audience.

Will post a pic of the Chemical disposal thread as the automatic cleaning system looks interesting.

We will come back for sure.
