I have add another 90 ah battery to my leisure side making a total of 2700 ah including the vehicle battery. My alternator is only a 50 amp job fitted by Peugeot to charge 1800 ah group. My question to those who know these things is will it overwork or cook my alternator. At the moment I disconnect the new battery whilst driving and only charge it on mains or solar

As Paul says you have added an extra zero.
They don't fit Alternators that small to Ducato's/Boxers I think the smallest is 90 amp & a lot of converts fit 160 to 180 amp alternators.
On an Eldiss yours is probably 90 or 120 amp. Unless you have a B2B you will never get a high charge rate on a Brit built van as the wiring is well undersized on the split chare circuit so you won't deliver much current to the leisure batteries.

Yep thanks for thatvI did add the extra, thought it looked high.
Mine is an old Talbot and going by the Internet given details, it lists a 50 amp altenator I can't see any plate without a deep strip down to get to it so I don't really know.
The wiring was standard caravan with a zig unit to change from vehicle to leasure usage. I fitted a charges fir mains hookup. And a heavy duty split charge relay to connect the two batteries when driving because the wiring didn't seem man enough to connect the two.
Now I've added another leisure and am concerned it may overwork the alternator.
If it is a 90 or 120 I have no worries but I'm not sure of the size

It will only fry the alternator if all your leisure batteries are way down. A 90ah battery 80% full will only charge for a few minutes anywhere near 10amps. I've got 4 x 100ah and they have a 25amp fuse in line and it's never blown.

Thank you for that. It's eased my mind, I have 25 amp fuses fitted in the split charge system
