Just looking
Hi all, asking for a friend who's just got a Hymer. He's got 2 batteries in tandem and was wondering when he reads the voltage should it show 24ish amps (as per 2 batteries in tandem) or 12ish? Any help would be appreciated

They should be hooked up in parallel (positive to positive, negative to negative). Therefore they should show roughly 12 volts. All the onboard equipment is likely to expect a 12v supply.

If they were hooked up in series (negative to other's positive) then you'd get ~24 volts. But that setup is unlikely in something that's not a truck.

They will / should be wired in parallel and so read 12v.
Having 2 gives more useable amps.

Hymer and almost all motorhomes are based on 12v... If it was a HGV or bus then they do operate 24v. (y)

I'm not sure how you can help your friend, other than point them to this forum.
They can then ask questions themselves and respond to the bits they don't understand.
It would appear that you (both) have much to learn and this forum can provide a hive of useful information.

Thanks for the replies, I shall pass this onto him and tell him to join. Thanks again
