Hey,

Thinking about applying vinyl wrap to the walls of the bathroom.

Removing all sealant first, applying to the walls to brighten it up a little (it is 23 years old) and then re-sealing all the way round.

Anyone done anything similar? Or know of any reason what this would be a daft idea?

Thanks

Dale

Sounds like a plan, but what are you going to use to attach it to the walls.?
Won't it need to be some kind of waterproof adhesive, and then will need to be evenly spread?
Why not paint the panels with an anti-mold kitchen and bathroom paint used for areas which may be exposed to high levels of moisture and/or condensation.
Just an idea but don't take this as a good or suitable one, or the right thing to do.
I am no expert 😂

What about the sheets of plastic/perspex type material they use for domestic bathrooms/shower cubicles instead of tiles. It comes in a large range of styles/colours and is relatively light

That is really interesting idea, it is common to wrap cars now so it must be fairly tough. May be worth getting onto one of those wrapping companies. As I understand it there is minimal amount of adhesive on the film, it can be removed leaving the original paintwirk unmarked. They use a heat gun to mould it around the various shapes of the car. This could be a whole new field of work for someone.

saniclad is the way to go, 2mm thick sheets of upvc that you can bond over the wall board

vinyl wrap will not work for a few reasons, but basically it won't stick or remain stuck to the walls

Yea, I have used it before and the adhesive isn't the strongest.

Not heard of scaniclad but will certainly be looking into that, appreciate the comment.

SaniClad is available on ebay from about £20 for an 8x4 sheet

We used to fit vinyl to clear glass shower panels that were supplied incorrectly to jobs the local electricity board were doing for the local housing dept'
You don't need wrapping vinyls for your job, a good quality printed vinyl will do. You will need to panel the wall though, lots of plastics on the market also Dibond type composite panels (best choice) If you use plastic make sure it is not like some used in the catering trade as they seem to be oily and the vinyl WILL NOT STICK.

Cheers

Thanks for all the advice on this, will have a look through what's been recommended and ill drop some before/after photo's when i have done the work....at some point.

I did the bathroom in my van with Saniclad. No need to ebay, they sell direct to consumer. Really nice to deal with. I highly recommend the product too. I used 2.5mm.
