Barking dog alarm

Ok we have a perfectly good dog.
However for all intents and purposes he is mute never barks.
We occasionally leave our quiet dog in the van when we go out but he's no security at all.
Our previous dogs barked when anyone touched the Mo HO light knock on the door etc
but otherwise were quiet.
When empty we can set the alarm system
However when the dog is left in the vehicle we can't set the alarm.
Having had a scrote attempt to break in when our van was empty last year.
We would like to add another deterrent.
I thought of one of these barking dog alarms. Anyone tried them?
Also could it be set when our dog is asleep in the van

I’ve got 2 and leave them on at home. They are very effective, not sure if will run off 12v but I will go and have a look. The ones I’ve got, you can set volume and also the motion detection range.

It does say 12v input on back but comes with 240 mains plug/transformer.

The barking increases in intensity the longer someone stays in its detection rannge and as you move away it turns into single woofs. Of course if someone hangs around for a while they would probably twig it’s a machine.

I really am interested if I can leave our dog in the van at the same time.
our greatest worry is the dog getting out or someone knicking the dog if they get in the van.
So knowing we can set it with the real dog inside the van would be terrific

I’m not sure it would work so great with dog in the van as he/she would keep setting it off moving and might get unduly scared by it, it works through our stone house walls so no good putting it in different area to dog.
It would be set off just by someone walking by.

We can set our alarm with the dogs in, just the internal sensors off. One of ours would probably not bark unaided but joins in with the other, sounds like battersea dogs home, it would be a brave or suicidal man to break in.

I have a Safety Technology’s Rex Plus barking dog alarm, it works great. Another noteworthy feature was the device's motion detector. It detected motion with ease through my front door, walls, and glass. In fact, the detection range of this product is up to 30 feet, which is ideal for my house.

Anything moving inside or outside will trigger the alarm, the alarm will momentarily set off but only for a few seconds unless the movement continues, it has a range setting, for example if the dog inside moves it will set it off but it will stop as soon as movement stops, I have one in the house and it detects my dogs or me when I approach my door, I lost my lead and adaptor but as I stock power supplies I made one up with a switch on, they are 12volt DC so will work off the van, I didn't put a plug on the 12volt end as I opened up the unit and soldered the wires in direct permanently quite easy, you could adapt any plug on the 12volt side of the input on the unit so a 12v cig lighter plug and it'll work, the barking doesn't bother my dogs so its not the end of the world when it goes off they'll get used to it, these alarms are brilliant...when they were in stock at Costco a few years ago I wish I'd have bought a few they were only 20 odd quid.
