Got 5 nights at Bristol site! What should we not miss?Been before but many years ago!preferably within walking distance or short bus ride!

A game of rugby at Bristol Bears….. (y)

I know…..you can’t get tickets…..no one can.🤷‍♂️

SS Great Britain worth a look as is Bristol Suspension Bridge. You could go to the Avon Gorge hotel for lunch they have a huge patio over looking the bridge it’s great if the weather is good. It’s also in a nice part of town Clifton Village and the Downs.
The area around King St has a nice vibe with bars restaurants and river walks/taxis.
Or you could go to Stokes Croft area if you fancy a graffiti tour!😀
Haven’t been for years but maybe the museum?

St Nicholas market,
The Grain Barge,
Bristol Beer Factory,
The Fish Market for clam chowder,
climb the Cabot Tower,
Camera Obscura at Clifton,
Christmas Steps,
The M Shed for local history (see if they are running the behind-the-scenes tours),

The pub next to the site (forgotten the name) does a decent pint 👍

I would also recommend the Grain Barge for lunch/dinner you might want to book it’s likely to be busy!

Is Bristol Zoo still there? - only been once many years ago and remember thinking how spacious it was for the animals - cos I was only used to dear ole Dudley Zoo which, er wasn't really when I was little.

Have they finished repairing Cumberland Road embankment yet……?

it looks as if it might be difficult finding the site with all the diversions caused by road works but we will get there!

Cottage Inn. Careful how you say that😀

Boat trip on the Tower Belle is good. Starts near the SS Great Britain.

Service at the Grain Barge was really poor this week. Not busy either. Totally disorganised.

Try to get a pitch at the back of the site as the noise from the roadworks at the front is horrendous. 7.00 am onwards👎

What direction do you intend coming in from?

Directions on this thread may help.

Follow the signs for the SS Great Britain if possible - they bring you to within 100 yards of the site.

Pop up to Clifton village, walk across the suspension bridge then back again to grab a coffee with the well heeled Bristolians

Just back from a great and presumably last visit.
Does anyone know if they have made any progress finding a new site?

They’ve purchased a plot of land already. There is a thread on here somewhere with a map. (y)

This is the latest from the caravan club website -

The Club has been operating Baltic Wharf campsite for several years on a renewable, short term lease while the Council planned for redevelopment of the site into up to 190 new homes.

In 2017, we purchased a new location, just one mile away near Ashton Court, and we recently received a positive response from the local planning office. There are still a number of hurdles for us to get through before planning consent is granted, but we are hopeful that this new location will be approved for development into a touring site soon. We will, of course, make sure we keep you up-to-date with the latest news about this potential new campsite.
