just have to see now if the sun causes a problem with the duct tape.

The sun will properly discolour and wrinkle the duct tape and make the glue go all tacky.

It looks like the arms may need adjusting in the track.

There is a cog at the end of the awning case accessible when the awning is fully wound out. You have to wind it back with a screw driver . Google it and videos come up.

Great result but what difference do you think the duct take made 🤔.

I have to give mine a shove sometimes to get it over the lip of the casing but I think that’s a length issue 😳🤣

I decided 5.5m is a lot to pull back in square

Edit - can’t tell where you are based , but we have travelled down to Rose Awnings in Poole a few times, they really know their stuff on Thule products

If it's not split why the duck tape I think you will create more broblems long turn.
Looks like the mechanism needs adjusting.

Arms either need adjusting or one could be bent, or I’ve even seen the cables had been overstretched. Usually the arm at the opposite is the issue.

From the Fiamma web site .. posted it 8 years ago.. !

Start by wind the awning fully out ..

Stick adhesive tape to the roller tube (available upon request Item No. 04191A01-) on the end that isn't winding in fully.

In order to determine the correct number of layers of tape to use, close the awning and measure how far the awning is staying open.

Use one piece of tape for every 6mm of open space. We recommend a maximum of 5 pieces of tape. Unroll the canopy completely, exposing the roller tube.

Place the tape on the side that is not closing properly, sticky sideup, start by attaching tape to the exposed roller tube and roll up the awning canopy until the tape is completely attached around to the roller tube.

I used two pieces of gaffer tape, about 3 inches long.. . awning now winds in fully at both ends..

That’s what I did👍

Hi there
I don't know if this solution is for your problem.

I had one end of my awning not going back in properly.

On the ends of the the awning when rolled out just above the support legs, mine had reflective stickers on the cap ends, they were cruddy and worn.

I peeled them off, sanded them smooth with fine grit sandpaper and cleaned them .. and a little smudge of white silicone grease. It worked a treat.

I think the resistance of the end caps was just enough to stop it going fully home; because the tension on the last bit of handle wind was where the retraction force was weakest.

Try cleaning the end caps, smoothing and a tad of grease.

It may do the job without tape, I hope it works for you and it is easy peasy to give it a try .. GOOD LUCK
