We use the TV through an Icecrypt decoder, our problem is the sound volume when on a SD channel is very low whilst good on HD channels, we have been told the decoder will not be affected by what channel is selected so? could anyone give a solution to rectify this.

I have the opposite thing at home. Have you got any surround sound settings that don't work properly due to not having all audio channels broadcast on SD?
I've not noticed my Avtex doing this but I don't have a decoder, just digital tv aerial and basic sat dish; the Avtex does all the tuning/decoding and therefore audio decoding too I assume.

Turn off options like surround or 3D and see what difference it makes.
