not had a sat dish before but considering for next van, avtex tv’s have a decoder built in is it simply a job of plugging the sat dish into tv or is a stand alone box required?
Probably looking at the oyster dish after looking through this forum
Thanks

The difference is that Freesat is a UK platform and will have a dedicated TV guide just like you have with a UK TV on freeview via an aerial.
With "free to air" receivers such as the built in one on some Avtex's you can get the same channels BUT they will not have the same program guide. When tuning it will put channels in random order and include some free foreign stations. You can of course select the popular ones that you watch and put them into favourites.

don't confuse Freeview (terrestrial) or Freesat with with 'free-to-air'

you get ALL the UK channels on free-to-air, including the ones on Freesat , but without Freesat program guide.
