Avoid the M27 for the next 2 weekends, folks - and the A27 while you are at it.
From Friday 24th 9pm to Monday 27th 6am, the westbound will be closed completely J11 (Fareham) to J9 (Whiteley) and traffic diverted onto A27 and other local roads. On the following weekend 1 to 4th Oct, same times the Eastbound will be closed J9 to J11.
Bedlam is expected - I live 2 miles away from J9 and will be staying on my drive!

Thanks for that i have family that way an will take that onboard (y)

I dont think that road will ever finish, the firm running the works are useless I know a few lads who have worked on it and they just stand around all the time🤬
Talk was they are delaying works as they may have to put more breakdown areas in, go along this road about once a week and only ever seen about 5-6 people working on about 8 miles of closure!!

I regularly use it and the work ethic there is a bloody disgrace.

Came back a few weeks ago from the New Forest and they had 5 blokes plus the lorry driver spreading a bit of topsoil on an embankment, if I priced that job it would have been for 2 men and the lorry driver.
Cannot see how they will ever make any money out of that contract as it never seems to change🤬
And why would they not complete a section of a few miles then move up to start another?

Last year i was on a campsite in Gosport there was five wobble boxes with eight guys working on the m27 . Nice chaps went home every weekend if they could.

Sorry, my post above should have said, "Thank you so much. This is really good for us". My husband will be in that area, so your post is really helpful :)

Thanks for the information, now can I have a route recommendation please?

We’re heading to the ferry on Sunday 26th for the night crossing to Caen. We’ll be coming in from the Salisbury direction……which route to the port do you recommend? 🤔 (y)

If it was me, down the M27 to A34/M3 junction then pick up the 272 over to Petersfield then straight down the A3 that will go into the 27 and to the port.
the A272 is normal a steady run.
Or Eastleigh, Botley, Wickham then over Portsdown Hill and down to the port through Cosham
Only trouble with this is most of the traffic diversion will be going along where you have to cross over so could be busy.

If you are coming a bit later at night you should be ok to take the diversion route

Great thanks. (y) We aim to arrive at the port about 8pm, if we follow the diversion what sort of time will it add to the journey……..assuming the traffic is moving of course. ;)

As is the animal cruelty! Whilst queuing, I watched a workman suddenly leap in the air and I heard the sickening, unmistakable crunch of snail shell ... I berated the workman, calling him a 'cruel descendant of an unmarried mother' and, in justification, he yelled back, 'Sod off, that bloody snail's been stalking me all day ...' (y)

With apologies to Max Boyce for reworking the lyrics from 'The Council Workman' ...

I remember those days working on the roads.

Stick with A36 / M27 - you're going Eastbound, the closure is Westbound.
