Goo morning Funsters,
I would like your opinion on this please. I bought an Autotrail Dakota from a very reputable motorhome manufacturer in West Yorkshire , it had 8213 miles on it. I got it on the road at the beginning of April, I've done 3000 miles .Last Thursday the clutch went bang on the A66, fortunately I got into a lay-by and courtesy of the RAC the van was taken to a local garage. Just taken a call from said garage to outline the damage , the clutch basically broke due to wear and tear consequently I'm likely to be approximately £950 worse off. The warranty obviously states it won't cover wear and tear. Should I contest the situation via a small claims court or just appeal to their customer relations to split the cost or am I being naive.Your thoughts please.
Regards and stay safe

I’m absolutely gutted for you, but think the best approach is a friendly chat to the dealer to see if they’ll help in any way. They may have their own service bay and could maybe cover the labour and you the parts.

In 2012 I went to see a 2006 Dakota with 35k miles on the clock at a dealer in Southampton. When it came down to pre-delivery and what that included, he said a full service, however I should consider getting the cam-belt changed. When I enquired as to why they wouldn’t replace it as part of the pre-deliver, especially as it needs it, I was told they would for £300 extra quid!!! Needless to say I took my money on a private sale and got a beautiful Dakota, 11k miles, far better nick and £5k cheaper. Did my own cam-belt on it.

Good luck and keep us posted.
