Cos I've looked at endless adds in the states and they look to be dearer than A classes.

As a rule John, yes. Although in the current climate the pricing structure if there ever was one is all over the place

Quid for quid and Dollar for dollar they appear to hold their prices better. 
Or perhaps the owner advertising thinks they are worth more than they actually are?
