Well 2.5 weeks and 2500 miles we have reached arctic circle in Norway. I don't know why more Brits are not coming here. Its full of German vans. Only seen 1other British van. The place is like Scotland on steroids, that have been banned l. It's an amazing place to see and great for vans/ mohos. Who you all not planning to come here. And it's just got a little cheaper as some of the ferries within Norway are now FREE. Get planning, you don't know what you are all missing. Even the sun is shining

For remoteness ( plenty of it up there ) try inland rte 955 in Finland you will come across pokka where there is a rest/coffee stop that will stay in your memories for sure a true gentleman !

We have just got back from touring Scandinavia for 6 weeks, Run out of time and did not make the artic circle, we got as far north as the Atlantic Ocean Road ( where they filmed some of the latest James Bond film). Would thoroughly recommend Scandinavia to all motorhomers. Scenery was amazing especially a night stop below a glacier.

Love it. It’s on our to do list 👍

Interesting observation re no Brits. Here in Turkiye it’s the same, just one other Brit in the last month.

Hi all,
been there and done that. You're right about the" Scotland on steroids" comment ! NC 500 - looks a bit tame to me. Done it in last century in VW Beetle ,when it was gravel roads and many ferries across the fiords. Now it's tarmac roads and tunnels through the mountains at fiord sides. The Atlantic Way Bridge with the twist in the middle has to be seen and crossed to believe -did it with white tailed sea eagle flying alongside van. Go early in May, or mid Sept. as their summer is early, and schoolkids on hols. Don't let German's and Dutch have all the fun. It is expensive BUT - take own food and booze. ENJOY

We found shopping locally was a lot cheaper beware if caught taking some food stuffs in will see heavy fines plus dogs need worming cert .
Loved Norway

Travellimg around the Baltic at the moment - Netherlands, Denmark, Sweden, Finland, Estonia, Latvia, currently in Lithuania & about to cross to Poland.

We've seen one other UK van so far!

All the UK vans must be in Spain, France.
Where are you all ? NC 500 ?

Strikes me as a scene from a Stephen King movie! :roflmto:
No a Alfred Hitchcock movie , he has stuffed animals/birds on the wall , a very very atmospheric place and of course it holds the record of the coldest place in Europe -51’ c

the actual artic circle is never a fixed line, as for bridges surly the öresund bridge and tunnel tops the list

Out of interest, which route have you gone up? They say that the roads are better in Sweden, but running up the West Coast of Norway must be pretty amazing ...

Fantastic trip Phil ! Wish we were there with you, I need to work on Dee, still Shetland next month 👍🏻👍🏻

Many years back there used, maybe still is, a Midnight Sun flying meet in Bodo, where you could fly under VFR for 24 hours, other weather conditions permitting.

Went once, loved it but never returned as lack of alcohol pocket money was upsetting.
