i'd be very weary about paying so little for so much technology , i think you will get more for your £ if you look on Ali express and they do vehicle specific as welllook here

Fitted this model in the merc. 8 years ago and updated easily to the latest android systems etc. Definitely a best buy for my car. Loads of apps on the google store, easy to use and even sounds very good with decent speakers.
Lots of 2-din cages and suitable facias to mount the unit available on <Broken link removed> and Connects2 will sort the steering wheel controls for you.
If you are not sure, I have a Zenec Z-E3726 for sale in the classifieds, removed from my Dethleffs.

My friend has a slightly lower spec one. Not android his. But he is really impressed. The rear camera on his is staggeringly good. I couldn't believe it. He had to extend the video cable for the motorhome.

I just wondered if anyone had this particular one. It has 16gb built in ram and wifi which is a big spec as Tasape says

Do not buy the Seicane make units , they come with no instructions whatsoever, and trying to contact them in China is a joke waste of money , don't know about other makes but this one is definately a no no .

It's pot luck with cheap ones you may get a very good one or a bad one.
If you by a branded one the minimum standard will be higher so will always work well.
I like cheap but with a car stereo I prefer to spend a few hundred on a branded one.

I’m thinking of something for my sprinter (2015 MY). It has steering wheel controls and my biggest reason is I want Apple car play

Ok I maybe thick, but how do these work, do they have to have a simcard in or what, says WiFi but where does it get it from.

Just for clarity. These units are effectively an Android tablet stuffed in a dashboard. They are standalone. This is different from an Android Auto/Apple Carplay radio where the radio effectively becomes just a dumb screen that's driven by your phone, so your phone does all the heavy lifting. For these Android radios, being standalone has advantages, but they are often using quite out of date versions of Android, and some of them have quite amateurish interfaces. They won't have an internet connection unless you have something else to give them WiFi. Also, check how long they take to boot up.

Basically they do no more than your smartphone then, but still have to have your phone switched on to run them.

If you have an app with offline maps and don't care about traffic information, then you don't need WiFi... but for a lot of stuff, yes.

Unless you have on-board Wi-fi with something like a mifi router say.
I have an android Unit in the dash and it has zero reliance on my phone as it connects via the mifi for anything related to using the internet.

However do you need WiFi to run them? Absolutely ....NOT. you have the usual features of a car radio with FM & AM (so not really just a "tablet in the dash and more than your typical smartphone). If you have apps installed like Audible, you can listen to audio books without an internet connection after downloading them (yes you need internet for the initial download but not to then use it), as well as listening to MP3s, etc via USB memory sticks.
On mine I also have the TPMS system running on it so I can see nice and clearly each tyres temp and pressure and don't need another screen for that.

I'm a fan of these and mostly because I DON'T need a phone connected to use it (been there, PITA)

I had a similar one with only 1gb of ram they are very slow paid £250 for one with 4gb ram with all the fittings and electronics for ducato e bay

I think my main issue with these are that there's so many unknowns. Some are pretty good and great value for money. Others are slow, have terrible screens that you can't read in sunlight and probably packed full of malware. It's very hard to differentiate between them.

So how does your router work? Does that have to have its own sim.
Not doubting anything just don't understand, and have often looked at getting one.

Yup. MiFi router has its own SIM (I just use an ordinary SKY Mobile in the router and ignore that I have calls and texts with it and just use the data part).
I use the onboard Internet (which what this essentially becomes) for the Dash Radio, Victron setup, Alexa devices, Firestick, etc as well as actually connecting the phones to it.

Ref the Dash head unit, just a point of info ... on my Ducato X250 (2007 build), to fit the double-din (so twice the height), I did have to do some 'dremmeling' to remove odd sticky-out bits so it would slide in.

I bought similar for my work van, £30, can't complain as it works as good as the Pioneer one in wifes van.
