Not had that one Geoff, Saga wouldnt cover ours because of the engine size, which was surprising. And quite a few have value limits, some of them quite low considering the current market.

I've been having a trawl round because of territorial limitations, I'm finding a few that won't now cover Morocco, apparently Aviva told comfort absolutely not from Jan 1st and NFU only offer the minimum requirement. I'm also trying to get better cover for the Balkans but struggling.

Oh! I’m a little surprised there’s no add on for LHD.
Isn’t overtaking and maybe a few other driving tasks more difficult in a LHD v RHD? 🤔

I remember being a passenger in a RHD jeep (Austin Champ) on a tour of Holland and the driver had me as his lookout for overtaking manoeuvres, etc.

Depends where you do most of your miles! Most of ours are on the continent👍👍

Only ever had a challenge at parking barriers where had to get out of van............ Consider from insurers perspective - how many LHD claims do they get? adding to which, the value is often less than RHD equivalent.

Since premiums are largely the result of actuarial data it's logical that drivers of LHD vehicles do not pose a significantly greater risk.
It would be reasonable to assume that people who drive mostly or always in the U.K. would be unlikely to buy a LHD vehicle.

Yes, overtaking needs care. Mine's RHD and mostly used abroad but when overtaking I'm high enough to see over and beyond the vehicle in front.

It depends where you travel though doesn't it? We rarely travel in the UK other than to and from the tunnel.

I'm not sure why you think that LHD vehicles are worth less than RHD ones.

Never been the case for cars & vans. I drove lhd cars from age 20 in the Uk & there were standalone lhd dealers in the midlands that sold nothing else & their lhd cars had a premium of around 180% over the price of a rhd identical example.
private you could bag a bargain as people thought they were worth less.
Not these days its not :LOL:
Never has been

I should explain why I asked the question in my OP.

I am trying to insure 'Fully Comprehensive' in Poland and the quote is coming in at an eye-watering amount, partly I am told because the vehicle is RHD.

So i just wanted to gather material to fight their argument.

I am going to ask whether if I told them I am going to spend a month touring Cyprus and another touring Malta, and then UK, they would reduce the premiums for those months. Or do they increase the premiums for Polish LHD vehicles when touring those countries?

The fight has just started.

Thank you all for responding.

Geoff

Adrian Flux added an extra £80 to my insurance cost due to it being LHD. Never had that before in 12 years of driving LHD motorhome.
I was less than happy but they had me over a barrel. Can't see them getting my renewal next year.
