Hi everyone,

I was looking to get a mobility scooter platform from http://www.armitagetrailers.com but having seen some of the feedback they've had here, I have been somewhat put off by their tow bar fitting skills (or lack thereof it would seem!)

So I thought I'd get a tow bar fitted locally (and properly), then head across to Armitage for just the platform, which just bolts on.

Any recommendations for tow bar installers based in the north west?

I went to PF Jones in Wigan, young lad took one look at the van, did a sharp intake of breath and said "ooooo, the wiring won't be easy inside there" at which point I made my excuses and left!

Oh, and if anyone knows, when I spoke to Tow Trust about the tow bar they asked what type of wiring I'd need... at which point I had no idea...

One connects to the rear lights, I forget what the other type was...

What's the difference??

I had one fitted by motorhometowbarslancashire.co.uk Mick Parkinson at Freckleton. 01772 634215
mob 07887997653. He does an excellent job and reasonably priced.

I second Mick Parkinson - had a towbar fitted on a previous MH and well pleased with the work.

Ditto Parkinson, he is first class

Double ditto for Mike Parkinson, done 2 for me excellent. BUT, it depends on the year of your M/Home, it has to be Type-Approved if the van is later than 2012 I think, I'm not sure if Mike does T/A worth a phone call.
Hope this helps,
Cheers, Dave(y)

Another one for Mike P. He even has / had a car you can use for the day. As I was only visiting the UK I had our little dog with me and he just said "No problem". So off I went to look at the sea and wander along the beach with her. A bit nippy, if I remember correctly.

Nine days later...

Tow bar fitted by Mick in less than two hours this morning - job done! Thanks for the recommendations, you can add my name to the list now

Great little cafe / coffee shop called Flapjacks just a five minute walk away too, they kept me in good supply of bacon sarnies and coffee - and stopped me freezing my arse off this morning (y)

Just want to add my support fo Mick Parkinson in Freckleton nr Preston. http://www.motorhometowbarslancashire.co.uk/

I took my 66 plate coach built to Mick on Tuesday all sorted within 2 hours. He did a great job, no fuss, no mess and very helpfull too. Big savings against the prices charges by dealers.

A visit to the local cafe is also recommended(y)
