Anyone know of any offers on dash cams? I see the Nextbase 522GW has been reduced to £139 on their site, the same price as the 422GW but by the time you add a hard wire kit and a decent sized card they can be quite expensive.
A couple of years ago I bought two Nextbase 312GW’s when Wombles found a good deal.

I am also on the lookout for a deal.
Topcashback.co.uk has an 8.5% rebate at the moment worth £11.80 on a £139 purchase.
It takes a few months to be paid the rebate...from experience they do pay...but you need to be patient!

Hopefully, someone else will find a better deal.

Please can you post the Amazon bundle link.

Halfrauds had deals on cameras a week or so ago.

No idea how they compare in price though.

The Amazon deals looks good value, any opinions welcomed from users of the Nextbase 522GW

Chris
I’ve bought it after loads of YouTube reviews on various models and makes and the experience of our current 312GW’s over the past couple of years.

Had a good few years of service from our 312GW and wouldn't be replacing it until it's u\s. 128Gb sd card works well in it.(y)

Meant to add to previous post, and I know folk use their dashcams for differing purposes, with a 64Gb card you'll get around 4 hours of recording before it starts to loop so, if like us, you want to extract parts of your journey for archiving you need to be careful on journey length hence the reason I made the comment on 128Gb card compatibility.

I've had a Nextbase 412GW for a number of years. Last year I discovered that there were missing sections in recordings. Google research suggested regular formatting of the card and also a Nextbase branded SD card. Reformatting didn't solve problem, but the ( expensive) Nextbase SD card seems to have solved the problem.

I always use either Samsung or SanDisk cards with a minimum spec of U3 \ V30 \ class 10 from a reputable supplier and never had a problem with either.
Choice is based on price when purchasing.
Believe U1 cards may not write fast enough and therefore "dropouts" may occur.

See this link from Nextbase - if you are interested! :giggle:

As I won’t be using a rear camera the 64gb card in the Amazon deal should record for 8 hours according to Nextbase.

With a capacity of 128GB, the microSD card will record approximately 16 hours of HD footage before the Dash Cam overwrites the oldest recordings, or eight hours if using a rear-view module. This provides you with enough capacity to capture any incident and ensure you have the evidence you need.

The U3 speed is required for 4K recordings and Dash Cams with Rear View Camera modules attached.

We bought our Nextbase from Halfords when they were on offer and they then discounted it by a further 10% on production of our AA breakdown card. (No! Not Alcoholics Anonymous)

Any Nextbase camera we've had throws a hissy fit sooner or later & stops loop recording, but our car isn't used very often these days, could it be that the internal battery goes flat & causes it the current one to spit the dummy?
The one in the motorhome is hard wired, the one in our car (Mercedes R350) is plugged into the lighter socket which is only live with ignition on.

I put this on a thread last year……think the offer is still available. £120 for camera, hardwire kit and SD card (but you’ll need a larger capacity one really). I paid £29 for a 128 Sandisc.

Bought three a few years ago from Jaws who had a line of supply, fairly cheap from what I remember and still going strong.

That's the one, I just turned it on and it works! Interesting about the google maps sync as I played the recordings back recently after our Scotland trip and saw something about that on screen, is it set from the menu and shows the map on playback as mine didn't show any map?

This is from memory as I've replaced it with a Nextbase model (still works and in it's box at home - we're travelling at the moment) and not used it for a while.
  • you remove the micro sd card from the camera
  • insert it into a computer \ laptop
  • start the X2 software
  • once it's running you click (and this is the bit I can't totally remember) one of the buttons on the bottom right of the X2 screen and think it's the one marked "Map" in Fig 7 in the instruction manual, looks like this

Sapper520, I like the price, the Red bundle is far cheaper than you'll find elsewhere on the Nexbase website. But I can't work out why the pricing is the way it is. Are these refurbished products, mail order returns or similar?

There's mention on Nexbase's website of deals for RED driver training which I guess has something to do with it, but there's no obvious explanation of why these are so cheap.

Any thoughts?

It’s brand new products. Just add it to your basket and pay. Think it’s aimed at Driving Instructors or new drivers, but there is nothing stopping anyone clicking on the link and buying.

I’ve done it and I believe others on this site have taken advantage.

Haven’t heard anyone having problems with it. (y)
