any idea what this is folks? couple of wires leading to it

The marking look like a switch. Normally open, normally closed and common

It’s the connections to a relay, contractor. One wire to common, and one to either NO normally open, or NC normally closed. When relay is energised, the NO will close, or the NC will open.

And if it really has only two wires connected it is doing nothing. (Unless it is a switch but then it would have some means of operating it) :)

SOG Toilets have a small reed switch operated by a magnet to switch fan on when you open the loo slider.

thanks for all the replies, can't see a switch anywhere, as far as we know van has no alarm, not got a sog and not near the shower room, it is next to what looks like an alarm sensor might have more than 2 wires, didn't look too closely. just found the photos when scrolling through on my phone
sensor?

it is onthe door to the wardrobe no access to outside so can't figure out why it would have an alarm if that is what it is.

Maybe scotzsue meant, "what does this switch do "
Phil?

No actual switch that I can see and no blooming idea what it is for. We need to get out and about and have a play.

Do you have a light that comes on when you open your wardrobe door ?

I have used alarm contacts to switch the lights on and off in our wardrobe.
Reed switch for the wardrobe light, the light turns on when the door is opened?

not noticed a light in the wardrobe. will have to have a look next time we go to check it is ok or take it for a run out. Fun when you buy a new to you van and the dealer has mislaid the books. He was happy for us to be there when he phoned the previous owner, her response they are all in the blue bag. they hadn't found it day before lockdown. might surface now they have more time to search.
I will not be letting it drop.

Now then Sue ... remember what happened the last time you had a 'play' with something ....! 😄

a magnetic reed switch, perfect for setting up an IED to explode when a door is opened
