Planning our first trip away for a few years. I know we have to have a UK sticker, and that we are supposed to display angles Mort stickers as well. Am I right in saying that we need to purchase the bus version? I believe the M/H pictures are not a legal version

Yes you need the bus version, but it seems it's only us and the Germans who bother with them.

Thinking it is best to have a set on board in case we need to fit rather than travel with out any

Just back from 6 weeks in France/ Northern Spain and saw hardly any AMs, even on monster motorhomes.

As. #4, we have a set on board, still in their wrapper.

We recently did 85 days in France saw quite a few larger French motorhomes with them and near Toulouse the police were stopping what appeared to be large motorhomes of various countries what they were checking I am not sure but no sign of a weighbridege

When we down in Spain for the winter there was a good percentage of the people who had driven down through France had them on. There was a good spread of nationalities as well. For the sake of a couple of quid for a sticker is not worth getting done. Just put them in the cupboard.
I did find some a few months back that were reusable. I see if I can find them again.

Found them.

My mate said he wouldn't bother and pay a fine. I made the point that if you happened to kill a cyclist by turning across them and you didn't have the correct signage you couldn't expect much mercy or clemency.

However I agree that they are ridiculous, if you can't see a 30' motorhome why would you see a little sticker?

Does any one know if the 90/180 day rule applies in Prison for manslaughter!

It would be interesting to find out what the view of the insurance companies would be as you would be driving a vehicle that did not comply with French law.

They cost very little and will save you any problems with the Gendarmerie OK a lot aren't bothered but them beggars on motorbikes do
We travel on non toll N roads and the number who we passed was far more than on the Autoroutes some seemed disappointed as I wasn't speeding and had the stickers on
There were very few without them when we travelled in April we even saw some French small motorhomes with them on - - though at least we don't need to display 5 as the HGV ones do

I have just done 90 days around scandinavian went through France on the way home I have no stickers on the van and still have SCO on my number plates with no problem and when I was stopped for speeding in Norway the cop said I see you are from Scotland and told me I was the first Scot hes done. Just got the speeding fine in 4000Kr o_O.

Our trip through France recently i had the Angles things in the cab.
No issues, however i do take the point of EVB about insurance, yours pays your money you takes your chance.
It's all boll@cks.

You only need a sticker if over 3500kg I believe

I must say you have to wonder who thinks these rules up
I was in France earlier this year I put them on even made a plate for the trailer
Better safe them sorry
But the question I have which side do you put them on a right hand drive vehicle?

I have the ones with a motor home picture on, didn’t realise they were not legal. Also, never got stopped. I assumed the warning was enough.

You have to put them on the side of your MH that is next to the kerb. Where the daft gits try to get when your going around a roundabout.

I know they are a legal requirement for over 3500 but realistically if you are a normal sized MH of just over the limit what are the chances of being pulled.
Ours is 3850. We did a few weeks in France and Spain recently. We carried the stickers indoors.
Like so many other "Laws" both here and in Europe they will not be policed.

I think that's the stupid thing about it, you can have 2 identical vans with one being uprated and needing a sticker the other not, surely the sensible thing would have been size/length which would make more sense?

I don’t think you will get done merely for not having them, it’s if you are involved in an accident and don’t have them there could be trouble

Well that's a relief, with my schoolboy French I translated "Angles Mort" as "Dead English" I know we don't get on but seemed a bit much.

I've always chuckled when seeing a lorry belonging to Norbert with the VeryStickingOutTooth
