It's freezing this morning (with fog early on), so we thought we'd try the heating for the first time. It doesn't work :( We followed the instructions to the letter and nothing happens. We've got hot water but no blown air heating. We have a diesel system and a Webasto Dual Top STD control panel. I've got the right hand knob turned up full and the left hand knob on the water and heating setting. I've also tried it just on the heating only but nothing's working. The red lights on both knobs are on, as well as the green status light. Any ideas, anyone, please?

your going to struggle for answers as so few people have diesel combis does you hand book not tell you what the lights mean? the most obvioius would be low battery power but you say you have hot water i would try it with the engine running that should give you full voltage

Thank you. The handbook is in French but I've translated the relevant bits and done exctly what it says. I'll try it when we start up. We're off home soon, anyway, as this trip out has been a total disaster!!

This is probably no help what so ever but we have a similar system in our office up the garden but with a different controller sometimes it errors and needs to be primed as the is air in the fuel line does the manual or google say anything about priming it?
Hope you sort it and good luck

Did the heating work ok before you left home?

When I had a diesel heater it needed a well charged battery to start, sometimes I had to start the engine to get it going, once it was running it was ok, and as previous post tank has to have more than 1/4 of a tank

Do you have more than a quarter of a tank of fuel? I remember being told it won’t run if less than that so you don’t run out of fuel and get stranded.

Yes, we're almost full.

I don't know. We've never used it. The previous owner said it worked and I have no reason whatsoever to disbelieve him. They were such a lovely family, cried when we drove the van away and even let us take it before our money had arrived with them from Wise! They're truly lovely people. I may need to get back to them oevr this for some advice but I don't like to ask too much as they were so sad when we drove away.

Hmmm as they are such lovely people I am sure they wouldn’t mind being helpful if you phone them with some questions?

Too late now but it's best to have a night in the van at home and use everything so you'll know how it works.
Try YouTube there's loads of information there.

Thank you so much! I'll have a look at this later.
Our Webasto Dual Top has worked well for years though we did have to replace the drain solenoid a few years ago, as it was leaking. This Spring I tried the heater before going on a trip and it wouldn't start up. I checked the error codes and they indicated that the control panel was not communicating with the heater unit. I tried all the fixes suggested by a local agent, but no success. The van is booked in on Thursday for it to be investigated.

.... this trip out has been a total disaster!!
Don't despair!
Your debut to motorhoming has generated several issues but they seem to me to be merely a question of familiarising yourselves with the operation of your newly acquired motorhome. It probably doesn't help that your manual is in French but I reckon in a couple of weeks you'll wonder why it all seemed so problematic.

This may be no help at all but we had problem with heating, Alde plus Swift Command panel. I was advised to remove Alde front cover as it might have been tightened too much, let it rest for 2hrs a d refit. If that didn't work disconnect Swift command lead.

It then worked, I either needed a new lead or "repair" to Swift command panel.

Apologies if barking up wrong tree.

Put your temperature dial at 12 o'clock, Then select the heating only option with the other dial and wait. The little green status light (bottom right) tells you the system is working. If there is a problem it will flash a code to inform you what the fault is. You then need to wait as it is not instant heat. After about 15 minutes warm air should be circulating through the heating tubes and out of the vents. The vents might have a flap which needs to be pushed into the open position so the warm air can get out. If you want more heat turn the temperature dial up some more. Also, you can quickly stick your head under the van and you should hear the Webasto running. Some are very quiet like mine and some make a bit more noise. You may also see a round metal tube which is the Webesto exhaust and there should be hot gasses coming from it.

Thank you so much. We're going to have a play with it when we get home. Today's been sunny and 21 degrees, so we kept all the windows shut and blinds open. Now it's like a greenhouse!!! LOL :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: Still, we're going to bed warm and setting off home as soon as we get up tomorrow :)

I probably will contact them. Email is best though, as their English isn't great and our French is pants!! LOL I just don't like to keep reminding them of their sad sale....but I think I may have to.

I'm guessing you have the digital panel? We have the STD one, so no error codes on it. I hope you get yours sorted :)

Well, we stayed another day and it's not been too bad....although we didn't need the heating as the sun came out. We moved to Camping Les Flots at Rochfoucauld. We've been here before and it's beautiful, so decided to end our short trip with somewhere happy :)

Maybe posing t a photo of your controls might help? Do you have a dial or something that blinks so many times, then pauses and blinks recycle starts again, from memory each sequence of rapid blinking refers to a fault code.

I believe an Alde system is radiators? We don't have that, we have blown air. Also, our control panel is a Webasto :)

Have you tried what previous posters have suggested and started engine, keeping it running while trying heating?

Thank you SO, SO much!! It's good to know someone has the same system as us. When we tried it, we waited about 30 minutes and nothing was happening. Granted, we didn't go outside and listen or check for exhaust gases. We're going to try again when we get home and see if we can get it to work, following your instructions above. Thank you very much again! I'll let you know how we get on :)

This is our control panel. We haven't had any blinking at all, just static lights.
