Amazon fire stick - setting up

Hello there !

My sisters brought her UK firestick and is trying to set it up here in Spain. She's just registered for a Spanish Amazon account and has set up the firestick using this new account. I'm not savvy with these devices, but could she have just used her existing UK Amazon account or did she need to register for a Spanish account ?

Because of geotagging in the software?
Amazon don’t have different hardware.
Unless some countries are still on older generation of devices.

I use a UK bought Firestick and currently use it in Spain, I'm registered in Amazon.UK never had a problem other then trying to use certain apps that may need a VPN....BBC iPlayer for example.

My brother in law lives in France and had an Amazon France account. He was unable to register his UK purchased Firestick.

He had to create a new Amazon UK account.

So it appears Firesticks need to be registered to an Amazon account consistent with where the Firestick is purchased.

That said, one could use a VPN to get around your location, but that's another story.

An Amazon firestick account should work anywhere, the problems arise from the source of data it is connected to. I have used my UK firestick in France and Spain tethered to my UK data card, the problems arise when it's connected to a native data source.

Hi One thing that I found out with my Amazon prime account is that you can have 2 Adults and Children on the same one, so with my son having one as well cancelled one, so we both get the same benefit's, only found this when I went to cancel mine which on the 30 day free offer

This will be related: When you buy an Amazon device like a Firestick or Kindle, at the time of purchase the default action is that the device is added to your account for the management of it.
If the device is a gift you deselect the “add to your devices” option.

I don’t remember if later you can alter which account the device is managed this but I’d expect you could as mistakes could be easy.

edit. Just looked at one of my devices in the management area and you can deregister them.
But I can’t go on to further steps.
